So I just learned that tomato is actually a fruit.

Not kidding. Not kidding. The cheesecake thread enlightened me, but that's because someone else didn't know either! So I'm not alone on this one! I had to Wiki a tomato in order to find out.

How many of you (and you know there are people this time!) thought a tomato was a veggie!?!? Speak up!

Did you know that goose down is really feathers from a young goose? Or that radio waves are a kind of light? Or that paper is made from wood?

This knowledge, and much much more, can be yours for the low price of 3 easy installments of $19.95 plus $9.95 shipping, for my new book "The Origins of Common Items."

A tomato is by definition a fruit, but the supreme court ruled it to be a vegetable for tax reasons.

And as such, Ronald Reagan ruled that ketchup was a vegetable for school lunch purposes...

This really isn't a parody, because I'm really not kidding. I blame my grandpa, Grandpa Lee, that had a big garden. Half of it was for the veggies and half of it was for the fruits. The tomato stalks were in the back of the veggie area.

I'm too subtle with my sarcasm. Fixed in my later post in the cheesecake thread. People still probably won't get it.

Thanks for the update. Be sure and start a thread every time you learn a piece of 3rd grade common knowledge for the rest of the day.

Why did everyone pick 3rd grade? Did nothing important go on before or after that in grade school?
