It says "Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Click retry button to re-detect your device and continue the installation. And I do and it gives me the same message.

I think I have the right drivers because when I hover my mouse over the Setup thing it says Company: Creative Technology Ltd.

Version 1.0.0.1

I think they are probably outdated though. Also I cant find anything in the AudioHQ area or Creative Sound Mixer tabs that have anything to do with 5.1 options. The only options I can find anywhere in this is 4 speakers, 2 speakers, or Headphones. And I have it set on 4 Speakers. and the system volume control, like for windows where it has a big list of configurations in the control panel, Volume, Advanced, I have it set on 5.1 Speaker configuration.

The SB Live 24-bit supports up to 7.1, right?

There should definately be more than a 4 speaker option.

It's probably driver related.

Did you try the switching inputs yet?

That was wierd I went to Device Manager and did a software update (drivers) for the SB Live! Value and rebooted, and back to no volume.. will switch back to the 1.0.0.1 drivers.. I'll try switching the cords after I fix that

I wouldn't worry about that too much. I know these are used by a fair amount of people.

these are really complicated.. Lot harder to use htan the Creative ones. And in the drivers I have it set to 5.1 Speaker mode. Surround: On, and everything to the max. Also at the bottom theres another 5.1 mode options. 5.1 Direct Path, 5.1 Movie Mode, and 5.1 Rear=Front. Direct path turns off all the volume on my speakers, and Movie mode sounds distant and not as good. So im on Rear=Front there. Nothing on that page is muted. On the main page for this I have it set to Rear=Front because it sounds better, and doesnt sound as complete when it's not checked for some reason.. Still no volume from my other satellites though.. :(

I don't know...

It seems like the speakers are working because sound came out of the fronts and rears when you tried them individually...

So only two speakers are working right now? Which ones?

Are you still using something that's more than two channel to test all the speakers (music would normally only come out two speakers).

Sounds like a soundcard/driver problem... but I don't know what the issue is.

Huh? how do I check this?

Yes sound is only coming out the rear left and rear right speakers.. and the sub.

A DVD movie would have multichannel sound (not during the menu, but after it starts)

Games would be surround sound.

Are you sure you have the front speakers connected to the front output? I usually see problems like this with only the front speakers working (I think this is a first for only the rear speakers working).

I'm not getting sound in these old Altec Lansing 2.0 speakers, either. I've tried every possible slot on the Karajin Sound Module on my DFI LANParty UT nF4 Ultra-D motherboard to no avail. It's pretty annoying too, because I can hear this crappy PSU fan from anywhere in the room (I'm using a friend's 5 year old generic PSU until my Antec SP 2.0 400W comes). GAH!

all speakers are connected properly unless the color coding is lying to me :p .

Games do not make sound out of the other 2 speakers.
