Now I'm paranoid as hell that they may be fake. Bought from Amazon.

Everything outwardly physical checks out,

However I'm guessing they're using a new box, because the box is completely different from the ones used in those Ebay Guides.

Does Anyone know how to disassemble cx300s, there are no screws obviously I don't want to just pop them opening, cuz they look like aluminum clips.

You're talking about the Sennheiser inner-ear buds correct? I have a pair and never considered they would be fake; why would you be concerned about it?

Let me know if I can do anything to help aside from completely ripping mine apart of course. :)

KT

Edit: I found this thread here: http://iaudiophile.net/forums/...ead.php?t=11679&page=3 very interesting, I had no idea. I'm quite positive mine are real though considering where I purchased them, the packaging is matches what Sennheiser advertises, the jack is 90 degreees and not straight as some fakes are, plus the cord length matches what the real ones are like.

Well that's just it, The box I have looks NOTHING like the ones in any of these guides. The only thing I have to go by is the Physical Appearence of the the earbuds themselves. The inner recessed mesh thing checks out, The silver ring checks out.

I just Don't know how to pop these open, They seem to be on super stiff.

Ughh,, is there like an xray thing so i can look inside.?

Post a picture of the box you received.

Are you Canadian per chance? I'm in Vancouver and I stopped at a couple of electronics stores on the way home and the box in your picture matches what they all had and I also checked my box when I got home and it looks like yours.

Can you post pictures of the actual earbuds? Apparently there is something with how the letters are written that may be an indicator: http://www.iaudiophile.net/e10..._images/fake_cx300.jpg Mine look like the original ones in that picture.

Well there you go, glad to hear it. I thought maybe they only used those boxes for Canada, but apparently not.

Enjoy your buds!

I seem to be able to hear the noise floor of my devices, Is it because the buds or sensitive, or defective. Or am I imagining it.

How's the sound coming from these earbuds? Is the wind noise while running that people talk about in all the reviews really that noticeable?

I have been looking for good, but inexpensive ear buds, and after the trade-in rebate they are $10 shipped from newegg. Some are complaining about the uneven cords though. I am planning to use these for running, and the player will be on my upper arm, will these work well that way? I too would like to know if the wind noise gets in while running, or if that is probably due to which buds the person used, thanks.

It's normal to hear the noise floor of your devices. You can eliminate any noise by adding an amp/dac as your source, but it's not worth it to get it for the lower end headphone offerings.

I just bought these headphones from newegg. I think the sound quality is crap, even for only $30. The bass is ridiculously boomy, the mid-tones muddier then a big pile of mud, and the treble is --non existent--. They sound like they have a frequency cut-off of 5 khz.

They might be good for use on a plane or other noisy environment, where you want high volume and bass but don't want loud screeching treble to give you a headache. They have very good sensitivity, are comfortable, and isolate reasonably well. Otherwise, pass.

P.S. - I find it hilarious that there are so many reviewers complaining about the asymmetrical core lengths, complaining about poor quality control, LOL. Lots of in-ear phones have this type of cord, its so you can wrap the opposite ear around your collar and only have one cord dangling down to your player instead of two. I'm amazed so many people have never seen this arrangement before.

You can't really expect much for a few dollars, but it's still much better than an iBud though.

Well to each his own, I find them to be very much worth their money. I only use them at the gym as I have much nicer headphones for everyday use, but nevertheless, they serve their purpose well for me.

No that was my point. The free buds that came with my ipod sound significantly better. The cx300 terribly distort the sound.

That's odd. Although I've never heard the CX300 before, many people find just about any headphone superior to an iBud. Did you turn off the EQ (should be off)?

Are you sure the ones you got from newegg are genuine? I got mine from there as well, but Newegg has been known in the past to get a bad batch from a questionable supplier. There was a time awhile back when about half the Samsung Bluetooth Headsets they were shipping were fakes.

I dunno, I can't stand my iPod earbuds, I find the CX300's to be significantly better in all aspects (Bass, Treble, Isolation, Comfort & Stability). Everyone will prefer a different type of sound, but the iPod earbuds are generally considered bottom of the barrel, so it makes me wonder if you got a bad pair.

My CX300-B from newegg appear to be authentic, they have the small lettering, and the wire lengths match up except for the divider to plug length, which I measured to be 86cm instead of 85.

I've tried all 3 sets of fit rings and none completely eliminate wind noise, but to be fair, T.S. Fay still had winds a bit high here, and I only experienced it when going into the fairly strong and gusty head winds. Other ambient noises are greatly reduced at comfortable listening volume.

Sound quality overall isn't much better than the $10 over ear Philips from Target (may be apples to oranges because the Philips don't go into the ear canal?), with the same music source, but the bass is noticeably better. I listen to a lot of bass heavy stuff when running, so these work well for my usage.

I have to spend a little time to get them in my ear to satisfactory results, but once in they require no further adjustment while running. The thinnest set are the most comfortable, but I just couldn't get as much bass from them.

Also, IMO, the asymmetrical wire is a cause for compliment and not complaint. With my MP3/4 player in an arm band, it eliminates the necessary wire management the other sets I've had, required.

If I had paid $70+ for these I'd return them, but fast, but for $25 shipped and the potential for another $15 back after trade-in, I am happy enough with them.

Thanks. I actually just got mine in the mail yesterday and am testing them out. The smallest set are comfortable for me and if that rebate comes in, this will end up being a good deal. Still gotta measure the wire length but the lettering looks good.
