9am this morning they got yanked under general anesthesia

I was pretty drooly for a while, and it wasn't comfortable biting down on gauss for 6 hours, but after some Oxycodone (which I'm told is way more potent than tylenol3) I feel terrific.

Now I guess it's just a matter of keeping it clean, I've managed to eat some soft foods, but from what I understand I don't even start rinsing for a few days. Keep your fingers crossed for no infections for me guys!

Congrats, I've got to go through that sometime soon too. :(

But if my dentists use general anesthesia it will go much better. :)

Really it's not a big deal. I think it would be a bit different for me saying that if I had a local and wasn't knocked out, but even then I don't think it's terrible. I honestly feel fine now, a little soar and it's starting to swell, but I'm going to go out tonight and take a trip to Montreal this weekend.. don't worry about it!

Had a local, and laughing gas when I went. Just before the dentist could start, and emergency came in. So I had to wait an hour in the chair with the gas on while he took care of it. He finally came back, and started working. He had to break them apart since the roots were funky. Well, halfway through the local he gave me wore off. He had to shoot me up again, but not until I nearly passed out from him breaking the teeth. Then, I ended up with dry socket. It wasn't a pleasant experience.

Is general anesthesia where you get knocked out , and then have those wisdoms pulled out in the OR?

I got mine out during the summer. The first day wasn't bad at all partly because I was out for 16 hours from the anesthesia. They said it was from "sleep deprivation." All I remember was when they stuck the iv in and then the next thing I know, Im in my bed and its night time. My dad had to carry me through the building and into our house. And I never got Oxycodone:(. WTF was wrong with those people?
Anyway, its not that bad. You'll get better soon. In a few days, take pics of your chipmunk face so we can laugh at you;)

I had all four of mine cut out while I was in the military. From what I understand from the oral surgeon was mine were pretty impacted in well.. and all had to be cut out..

Had a fvcking mouth full of stitches for a few days.

I certainly do have some stitches, mine were impacted but 3 of them had grown out, so they were pretty bent in different ways. One was almost horizontal under the skin. That's hilarious about your dad Smiley!

General or local anesthesia is just numbing injections. The best way, in my opinion, is to get knocked out. They stick the IV in, you talk to the assitant for a few minutes, then you wake up not knowing where you're at. It's fun. ;)

I got an infection... Stuff started tasting real bad and I could tell my break reaked, so I went back, got some penicilin, and all was good! The only thing I really hated was having to syringe the holes with salt water everytime I ate as food would get stuck in them.

Ok...I went for the full ride then.. Didn't have a damn clue where I was when they woke me up. All I know is they were slapping my face and saying "Joe.. hello.. anyone home..you're all done now!"

Yeah.. tell my fvcking mouth that!

I got mine out last summer on just novacaine.... I had no drugs except tylenol and I worked the same day I got them out. I was lucky. Not to mention I was eating hard foods the next day.

By tomorrow this evening or maybe tomorrow morning you won't be feeling as great as you did just prior to the extractions.

planning a trip this weekend right after that trauma might not be such a great idea, but good luck!

My oral surgeon gave me two options for wisdom removal: get put to sleep or just get the local injectable painkiller. I went with the sleep method and I woke up for only a short while as my mom took me home. The rest of the day I was just using Motrin and ice. The worst is when I got a dry socket infection twice in the same spot. The oral surgeon had to go in and scrape the dead tissue out. Even though he used a painkiller on the area, it was still really weird with the scraping noises in the head.

Right now I'm simply concerned about getting an infection / dry socket. I've been eating a bit of hard foods today, my teeth don't hurt at all really, just my jaw. Tomorrow (day 2) I can start rinsing with salt water.

I'm surprised by how little this has hurt actually, I'm taking a wonderful drug which is apparently the equivalent to heroine in a small dose.

We'll see what happens!
