So I just got my first back massage...

I went to the chiropractor today because my back has been hurting and I guess with my new health insurance I get a free back massage with my co-pay. This was my first one and dang... I thought they were supposed to feel good?!?! Granted, some parts were good, but other times I almost wanted to tell her to stop because it felt like she was pinching me as hard as she could.

Also, they said to drink a lot of water or else I'll feel terrible tomorrow??

Update #1:

Just went again for an back adjustment and then got a massage. This time I got a younger girl and she had a totally different technique than the first older lady. It felt much better and she took time pinpointing certain areas that had knots and such. Not sure if I'm supposed to keep drinking a lot of water or not, but I feel good now. 🙂

I go again Friday so hopefully I get her again.

I am a CMT. i have no idea what she was going to give you the sensaton of your back being pinched. i have had a lot of PROFESSIONAL massages and have never had that feeling.

yea water is a good thing. i have gotten a full body massage and the next day felt like a cold was coming on. its common because wtih a full body massage all your muscles are being palpated and bad stuff that has remained hidden in your fat cells or facia or muscle can re-invade your body and your white blood cells start attacking them. i have felt this a few times. water helps flush out those toxins.

Maybe I'm describing it wrongly.... she was pushing very hard down on my skin and I guess my fat was getting in the way and it felt like it was being 'pinched'?

My ex is a massage therapist. Actually, I met her as my massage therapist.

Anyway, the first couple of times it will hurt. After that, you should be OK.

That's for therapy/deep tissue massage. Sweedish massage doesn't hurt, but then again it isn't worth much unless the person doing the massage is hot 😉.

How much did you normaly charge for a happy ending or perhaps a dirty sanchez, maybe a Clevland steamer , perhaps a Donkey Punch?

Last time I was in an accident the insurance company sent me for massage therapy. I loved it. By the time I left after each visit I felt as relaxed as a limp noodle. A warm fuzzy sleepy noodle.

The best "massage" is actually Rolfing. That stuff does hurt, but it hurts because the rolfer realigns your myofacial connective tissue. Afterwards one feels like a million bucks. It accomplishes what chiropractors attempt to, the proper alignment of the bones.

my ex used to give amazing backrubs... some girls have the touch, others dont.

i have yet to recieve one from a guy yet so i cant judge

Depends on what kind of massage you got. My guess is since this wasnt a massage parlor it was more theropeutic(sp?). I have had many of those over my years from athletics and they can be painful as hell.

The most notable was when the tendon on the backside of my knee had a nice knot in it and the trainers rubbed the hell out of it to get it to loosen up. OMG I almost wanted to tear up from the pain. After 5 minutes it like loosened up and omg it felt sooooo good.

But sometimes they arent all bad. Putting the ultra-sound on my trap to heat it and then worked out the knot a bit so I could practice. Man that would feel good hehe.

" A warm fuzzy sleepy noodle. "

funny.. i could actually imagine what a warm fuzzy sleepy noodle might feel like when I read this. good description ;-)

I don't see or feel anything special about them. I had my first one like a year ago (gift giving to me) and I didnt feel any different after it. The only thing good was the hot lady giving me the massage... and no.. no happy ending.
