So I just got a refurb'ed iPad with someone's info on it.

Just a warning. If you send an iPad for repair, or replacement or just return it because you don't like it...there may be data leftover on the device even after you think you've formatted it.

I know it's just Pandora, but could you imagine if there were another app that might have had items that I could have used maliciously? You would think that Apple would ensure that EVERY SINGLE BIT of your data was wiped out before sending it to a total stranger somewhere.

You know...after all the headache Apple has put me through this month, I don't see how so many people love this company so much. This last month, they've seem like the most backwards company I've ever dealt with. ^_^

Maybe someone can test this? Install Pandora, put your info in, reset the device and reinstall Pandora and see if the account sticks?

Apple does this because they know that their customers represent the top 1% of humanity in terms of intelligence, creativity, physical appearance, and moral correctness. Everyone knows this.

email that pandorian and let him know what his beloved apple hath done

Yeah, I found his twitter and Youtube pages. I've sent him a link to my video. He'll probably be pissed of when he see's it.

EDIT: Oh well, he is blocking my messages. I tried to tell him.

Aka Apple is full of failures and anybody who buys their shit is also a failure like yourself.

Gotcha

I honestly can't see any reason why I'd buy an iPad to begin with...

I mostly use it to go to a friends place. I used to lug my laptop and cables there all the time, but now I just take the iPad. All I really do on the thing is browse the web and watch the occasional Youtube video anyway.

Sounds like a tremendous waste of money. What do you do for a living?

i kinda regret buyin mine. with tax, case, and screen ptrotector i spent 1k. i have that stupid wifi issue on mine. fvck u apple.

I could buy a pretty sweet laptop for 1k. Hell, I bet my 4 year old Toshiba has more computing power and I paid less for it 4 years ago than the iPad costs...battery life sucks though I'll give you that.

Plain old helpdesk guy. Is it really a waste if I end up using it more than 10 hours a week? Also, I got the cheapest version. Yeah, it was a lot of money, but portability was a huge reason for buying it. I'll probably sell it when the better tablets come out later this year.

I bought one yesterday and I already regret buying it. Luckily for me Best Buy is only 5 mins away.

It goes back today after work.

Maybe...

About your video... Pandora seems to retain that info even after you "format" your iPhone. I wonder if they tie it via Device ID, or something on their server end. Because I've done a restore without using backed up data and my account from Pandora was still on my phone previously.

Definitely a little bit scary. I don't recall any other apps working that way, though... hmm..

I wonder if deleting/uninstalling Pandora from your iphone/ipad before doing a factory restore would change anything. Definitely not a good thing...

I'll be testing this tonight. I think my 3G does the same thing.

Just curious if you ever spoke to a human being prior to getting your exchange or was it an automated response? Were you you told you were getting a "new unit" or a "replacement" unit? I followed your other thread on this iPad so I know this story as its been told here. I advised you several times on how to handle this matter. I have some experience in these things. You chose to go a different route. In anything of this nature direct communication with someone in a position to authorize what you need is key. You have to know the right questions to ask and actually listen to the answers. If you ask someone what time it is and they tell you its Friday morning you need to ask the question again. Sometimes if you don't follow the footprints in the sand you may end up taking the long route home.

I spoke to a person at the 5th Avenue (24 hour) store in NYC less than 10 hours after purchasing the unit. Unfortunately, they had already sold out and had no "brown-box" units in stock. They were willing to do the exchange, but couldn't and said I can contact Applecare over the phone.

This is when I said I didn't want to bother, and would like my money refunded. I had everything in the box (I didn't even untangle the cables yet) but was told it was their policy to charge a restocking fee of 10% of the purchase price.

I could have gone ballistic at that point, but decided I'd rather keep the iPad and deal with Applecare over the phone. On 2 occasions when I received my iPad back, I called the Apple store to check stock and there were none.

I really hate trekking into Manhattan anyway, so it wasn't such a big deal to me. Most of the time I use it in my friends house anyway, and he has a perfectly working one, but at least now we don't have to fight for it. lol
