So I just bought Two Worlds II

I've been waiting for this game a long time and was under the impression that it had been pushed back to 2011.. So I haven't been following the news really. Turns out the game was released a month ago in Europe.. There are barely any reviews available, just previews saying the game will be available in 2011. Still surprised I overlooked this one, as I'm even subscribed to their newsletter (which has yet to mention the fact that the game has been released..). So much for the hype eh..

It was delayed for US and UK which is being released in January 2011,I will be picking it up at some point.

there are a handful of reviews on metacritic, which are very favorable. From the screenshots/vids I've seen it looks really good, way better than the first

Two Worlds was junk, it'd be nice if this one wasn't. Definitely let us know what you think.

I actually enjoyed the first one. It wasn't great, but it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. The story was forgettable, but as a Professional Loot Whore I loved looting every dead body and chest, finding new weapons, combining weapons into swinging death. The magic system while flawed was an interesting way of handling it. The land was huge and the graphics were pretty decent. If they learned the correct lessons from the first one, I think the second has a lot of potential.

Yeah I thought the first one was quite good. Not great and I never finished it as the game was too big if anything. But I enjoyed the time I spent on it.

This is exactly why I liked the first one. Combining weapons was pretty unique at the time, exploring to put together a full set of armor was pretty fun, or mixing and matching stuff. If they've improved some of the shittier elements of the first one, like the storyline, boring quests, voice acting, then i'd say it will probably be a buy for me when it's released in the US.

Anyone know if there's a PC demo out?

Same here, I really enjoyed the first game for some reason. I think it failed because it was marketed as an improved Oblivion, with additional features like mounted combat. Of course, in reality it was way too flawed and low-budget to compare with Oblivion, but still a decent game on its own.

Only done the initial "tutorial" part of TW2 so far. The first part is an escape from the dungeons, just like Oblivion.. But there's a much greater sense of urgency and danger, much of it due to the cinematic sequences. Then you get to see the first glimpse of the outside world. Graphics is significantly improved, though the bloom effect can be overpowering at times. Voice acting is improved and the strange mix of modern and archaic english is gone. They're even poking some fun at the first game:

Magic looks interesting with the "spell cards" that can be combined to create almost any spell. Ranged combat seems quite viable too.

I played the first and enjoyed it a decent amount... If the reviews trickling out stay positive I may have to give this a shot before the rush of games coming in Q1 next year.

First one was ok,I hear the new one has a lot of improvements from feedback from players.

Btw release news ,

Southpeak Interactive will still be going to Publish Two Worlds II in the United States but will not be Publishing in UK, TopWare Interactive will now be Publishing Two Worlds II in the United Kingdom.
The Game is to be set loose on British and American Soil on January 25th, a few weeks later than the loosely set original date of Early January!

The newly set date allows both Company's to give and get the attention that Two Worlds II deserves in both countries:

I've been playing Two Worlds 1 for few weeks. it's like $5 on ebay. It's quite good for old games, even graphics isn't bad at all. It's definitely better than Oblivion/Gothic in certain areas. Hopefully I can finish it soon and move on to TW2 as well.

Yeah, do post some impressions. I never paid attention until I saw some favorable reviews. This game may tie me over until Witcher 2 which will tie me over to Elder Scrolls 5 or discounted New Vegas with all DLCs. Sad to say I'm not impressed with what I've seen of Dragon Age 2 so far 🙁

I put about 20 hours into the first one before I realized all I was doing was attempting to sate my desire for a new Gothic game by playing a subpar clone. There wasn't any redeeming features there. Doesn't mean the 2nd one can't be good though.

I've played a few hours of it, rather delighted so far having gone into it with no expectations. The Menu graphics may be the worst i have ever seen despite the beautiful ingame textures, models, and animations. I'm not sure who the producer was but wow, it looks like something from a floppy disk when i look at the menus. . .and the loading screen. . .wow. . .just rediculously rushed.

But like i said, it's quite a nice break from fps, and there are some great mods to look at on german sites to tweak performance.

AMD CARDS ----> NEEDS NEWEST CAP TO RUN XFIRE PROPERLY.

Other then that i'll repost when i've sat through some more of the story.

I've been looking into a game with co-op to play with the wife that isn't another MMO (We're already on a ton of those btw)

I'm intrigued how co-op works in this game? Anyone care to shed some light for a fellow interested gamer?

Played 30mins and trashed it.
- Graphics are horrible (similar to the games from 2006)
- Poor skill/item management system
- The game itself has $19.99 pre-release price quality written all over it.

I also never liked Torchlight...(cheap quality imo) I am staying away from any small studio production for a while now.

Are you talking about Two Worlds or Two Worlds 2?

Yes, obviously not liking two random games means you should steer clear of anything that doesn't have EA or Activision stamped on it.. Solid logic there.

Torchlight WAS cheap.

It was a small studio.

The game was fun.

I also recently am enjoying Bloody Good Time - it was five bucks. Is it CODBO? No it is not. I have played it 10 hours. So 50c an hour, decent deal so far.

Yeah that's true. I really like the game "Witcher", though it was from a small studio.
Just upset that I wasted $ on this damn game.

Np man, I was just being a smartass. I don't like it either when I purchase a game that ends up not to my liking, and it's even worse since you can't return it.

I'll gladly take the game off your hands, however. 🙂
