If your numbers are right on the vette...it would be the vetter trying to keep up with the Audi. The RS4 is actually a lighter/faster RS6 avant.

Well, numbers (As numbers go) vary depending on who your talking to.
Either way, I'll stick with my statement. The Vette better not get sloppy or let its gaurd down when the S4 Avant pulls up with 3 kids peeking out from the window.

These germans are crazy....V8 400hp M3??!!!?!? To combat, Audi is bringing the RS4 to the US for the first time ever.

Obliterate eh? I seriously doubt that. Beat yes. But this is also the 05 model, which is a big step over the older ones. Also, you better have an on the ball driver or that wagon is gonna be hanging on your bumper something fierce. That Avant is automatic. You CANT misshift. Long as you dont turn the wheel wells into smokestacks your gonna give that Vette something to think about.

That's obliterated. If you watched those two cars race on the street, the Corvette would leave the Audi way behind. Do you really think a full second in zero to sixty, and nearly a second in the quarter mile means nothing?

If we're talking about 2 dedicated sports car, hell yes its obliterated.
But we're comparing a STATION WAGON to a dedicated sports car. If that Vette slips up anywhere in the race it becomes a close race. And 8/10's of a second regardless isnt a landslide in the 1/4 mile. Yes its a solid win, but certinaly not obliterated. Especially when the car trailing your bumper is a wagon!
Its like the Vette/Viper arguments. The Viper *can* win every time. But if the Viper driver slips, its a race and may well go to the Vette.

Besides, this is a base model S4 Avant. The one you can get at any Audi lot in the country. If you step up to the RS4 or 6 its a whole new race at that point.

This one is mint. I got it from my long time trusted mechanic who was very emphatic at how good of shape it was in.....especially since he had just rebuilt the transmission and given it a major service. Before this came up, we were looking at 1-2 year old cars. It literally drives like new and there's not a squeek or rattle anywhere. I'm actually pretty geeked about it.
 
I'm not 30 and I own a Mazda 6 SportWagon ... and it is brilliant. People who talk about needing a big, bad-ass car to compensate for other 'shortages' are directly comparable to people who post about the size of their e-penis on anonymous forums on the internet.

Wagons are functional, good-looking, and in come cases, can kick ass. 🙂
 
The fact that wagons have fallen out of favour with the public is a tribute to looks over practicality. Functionally speaking they are superior to sedans. I wish I could buy a maxima wagon 🙂

An SUV is just a tall wagon, on truck frame, with worse gas mileage. 😉
 
I own a 93 Dodge Dakota 4x4 with the paint peeling off and when I bought my Sebring convertible I started getting poon 10X as often.









not really, but I do get compliments on my car.
 
I have an SUV right now, and I'm gonna drive it till it falls apart, but if I got a new car anytime soon I'd get a Volvo wagon.

the fact that females like SUV's is one reason i don't drive one. i'm trying to think of another car that females like...

oh yeah. the minivan. and females like both because very few of them give a flying fvck about the DRIVING experience. (there are exceptions, of course, but I've only known two in my entire life).

but wagons rule because they offer the same driving experience as their sedan/coupe counterparts, but with all that extra utility. if i can keep up with the porsches, corvettes, NSX's, etc on my daily mountain-road commute, and still carry nearly 1000 pounds of musical instruments and amplifiers, i call that pimpin. meanwhile the SUV's spend most of their time desperately trying (and often failing) to avoid pancaking themselves on the center divider or flying off the cliffs. i see them flipped or smashed on a weekly basis. so you may think your mom-mobile is cool, but i just blew your doors off in my dorky wagon and i wasn't even trying.

as for the OP, don't touch a thing on the exterior of that car. it is INVISIBLE to the cops, and with the turbo, you're ready to rock. just put your foot in it and blow some "cool" people's doors off. 🙂

Oh I know man!! Thats one reason I looked at the S4 Avant pretty hard. Nothing would be the priceless look of some guys face when his Mustang or M3 or Vette just got walked away from....With 3 kids peeking out the back window and a load of groceries in the back. 😀

Nothing that is except the payment I'd be making for that pleasure. :Q

my uncle gets just that satisfaction from his 250 HP Saab 9-5 wagon. Top Gear tested it (in sedan form) and mentioned that it was quicker from 50-70 MPH than a 911 Turbo (IIRC). and after riding in it, i believe it. once the boost comes on tap, that thing will get up and GO.
