Its now after one and i have work at six which means a five`oclock wakeup. Should i just go for it? Its a 8 hour shift + hour lunch so i would be able to sleep at three. Not really that tired... caffiene would probably hold me through a shift.

Call in dead. Call in sick. Either way, sleep is pointless. Start inhaling caffeine now.

I'd be dead, I would at least get the 4 hrs or so of sleep and struggle thru the day but then not learn my lesson and stay up late again the next night. I'm pretty dumb like that :D

As a person that suffers heavily from insomnia, eat & drink is your savior now, as sleep won't do anything for you.

Im hitting the Macdonalds breakfast once it opens. That and redline should be enought to make it through a shift.

I find that any sleep helps me. Some days even an hour nap can energize me for a day. In fact I might go do that now but for quite a bit longer than an hour...

yeah...i'd sleep, but i went through a three or four month stretch of getting no more than 5 hours sleep every night...and even three hours sleep helped me get through the day. But...it's all in how you handle it. You'll be active for the most part...so sleep might not be needed. Plus, i'm old, so sleep is good.

Ugh, damn IPA is gross.... If you are expected to do something different tomorrow, prepare for the worst. Stock up, and deal with the consequences later.

Enjoy it while you can. But i know what you are saying...and i'd say 18-20 were the best of times...even though i had to depend on other people to...well...help me out while i was in college. It was always easy to get it done though...

i'm with fobot. there've been times i've been completely dead, slept one hour and it was enough to at least get me through the day. yea, you're not ready to climb a mountain with an hour of sleep, but just passing through the day will be doable. so yea, if you have time for 4, sleep 4 hours. you're 18? college about to start? depending on your schedule next year, 4-6 hours may be average for some weeks/quarters/semesters.

4 hours is good sleep. 30 or even 60 minutes might not be enough to let your body regenerate.

I once heard a theory from a health nut that the body works in 90 minute cycles.
So a good nap should be either 1.5 hours, 3 hours, and so on.
Anything less than 1.5 is just going to slow you down but not really help. So take the big chunks when possible.

EXCEPTION:
When I was in the Navy on deployment I found that anything I could take was helpful, even just 5-10 minutes.
Being totally wiped out for days makes you grateful for whatever you get.

After I got out I ended up with a job where I work nights. Its tough sleeping during the day and I find that if I dont force myself to get at least 8 hours straight I will have a hard time surviving a twelve hour shift.
