Would it appear awkward if I were to go alone to the local Wildflower Bread Company, eat, and read on my nook for a while tomorrow morning?

I don't get it- isn't it a restaurant that has pancakes and offers free wifi? What would be awkward about that?

damn. now i have a craving for pancakes.

i think ill wake the wifey up and ask her to make me some. gotta come up with a reason..

I've never eaten at a sit down restaurant alone. I think it would be kind of weird.

i have. lots of people have.

the only one who will think it's weird is you.

ask yourself: when you go into a sit-down restaurant and see a guy sitting by himself eating dinner/breakfast/whatever, do you think he's weird for that?

Usually I say "hey look at this loser eating alone everybody, lets all point and laugh. " Then everyone points and laughs and we all throw our spoons at him.

Then again, there's a large section of people who think it's socially unacceptable and weird to go to a movie alone, so whatever.

My wife cooks one meal a day. (and does a damn fine job) I eat out (by myself) everyday. I love it. It is my "Me Time". I read my book, take my time and enjoy the solitude. If I feel like interfacing with other patrons I do and if I don't feel like chatting I don't.

Going to a movie alone is ridiculous - obviously sitting there in silence and watching a movie is supposed to be a very social event.

While I agree with you, some movies are better with others, but more often than not, I'd rather go to a movie by myself so that I can actually WATCH the movie in peace.
