what are my options when it comes to having access to them in my car? I have way too many albums to burn them all on cds..

I don't like portable players as it requires battery, carkit, transmitter, etc..

Get a headunit with rca inputs.
Then hardwire in a jack for a portable player.

Get a Pioneer DEH-4600(?) that has MP3/WMA capability. I have one and LOVE IT!

Hardwiring the power supply for the player too? The whole recharging process is whats keeping me from an portable player.

You don't have to hardwire - the ipod has many options when it comes to charging via the cigarette lighter.

My roommate just got an AC adapter for his ipod that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Apparently if he tunes his radio to a certain frequency it will receive its signal from the ipod. Haven't seen it in action yet though.

I remember seeing a 20g or so headunit that supported mp3s. The ccol thing about it was that it could connect to your wireless network at home and update itself.

getting a mp3 deck is the most viable option. Each cd contains ~150 songs, pretty good of a selection to listen to.

iRiver + carkit + cig lighter power adapter
iRiver > iPod in oh so many ways :p

Or carputer, or headset with HDD, or a headset that will play mp3 CD's (can you get them?)
Panasonic would be a good bet for anything, as they also have wma support on most of their devices, and they produce quality stuff, IMO (20yo VCR, still going strong, when it's needed)

Alpine has a head unit coming out that interfaces with the iPod...

I'm not sure of the details however...

What if you started ripping your cd's for the last 4 years, purchased many online, and downloaded music from the MANY sites that offer them for free (legit)? My cds from 4 years of playing them in my car have gone almost to sh!t. Also why should he have to put up with only 20 some songs per cd?
Why dont you pull your head out of your ass and stop trolling in this thread.

riocar is pretty neat, wish i didn't sell mine
10gigs of mp3 goodness, acts as a seperate headunit from the deck, was neato.

Otherthan that an ipod with an rca extension, i have a kenwood deck that'll support it, but i just burn mp3 cd's instead. If i need more variety than 5 mp3cd's perhaps i'm being too picky is what i figure...

I have an Alpine MP3 HU with Ainet controls for Alpine changers....they have a 6 disc changer that also supports MP3. You're looking at 7 discs worth of MP3 that way.......plenty of music. The HU would probably run you somewhere between $200 - $300, and I think the changer is around $300 also.
