So I have a gsync monitor is it true I am stuck with nvidia because of that?

That model looks like nVidia or bust, AMD cards should work but based on the specs you lose even the high refresh rate at 1440p without nVidia.

You could likely find someone who'd happily trade you for a free sync monitor though.

I know my freesync monitor now supports Gsync as well, which is nice. It is actually a very similar model to yours, also an Asus 1440p 144Hz.

Why are you "stuck with nVidia"? They own the high end and are equal or better than AMD in almost any segment. Dont see a big disadvantage there.

If you have a mobo with two GPU slots you can use the cheapest nvidia GPU with gsync support and use any AMD GPU you like with it.

Nope. Only G-Sync and ULMB won't work with AMD card, 1440p with 144Hz and even OC to 165Hz will work without issues.

He can use Enhanced-Sync to get rid off tearing.

There is nothing stopping this monitor from functioning on an AMD, or Intel GPU. As long as they have a DisplayPort that supports 1440/144, it will function fine. Now the GSync specific support won't work for obvious reasons.

But, this is the main reason AdaptiveSync has won the market. It works on everything, and is significantly cheaper.
