So I have 5.1 speakers and a 5.1 sound card, but I can't watch dvds in 5.1?

Hello,

My motherboard (ASUS A7N8x-E Deluxe) came with a free copy of Intervideo WinDVD suite, my DVD-Rom (Lite-On 16x) came with a free copy of PowerDVD 4.0, and my video card (Powercolor Radeon 9700 Pro) came with a free copy of Win DVD 4. However, it seems that all 3 programs are limited to 2 channel output only (ie even if I watch a 5.1 dvd, it downmixes the signal into 2 channels). Is there any software out there that I can actually watch dvds on my computer in real 5.1?

Thanks!

Check to make sure the software player you are using is able to handle the 5.1 sound. Several versions require an add on package to properly handle 5.1. I can't remember at the moment where to check though.

I figured it out... for some reason, the WinDVD 4 that came with my video card didn't output 5.1 channels, but the WinDVD suite that came with my motherboard does.
