Cliffs because I don't feel like writing out what happened:

- I took out a $20,000 loan to pay for this semester of school.
- Tuition + room + board only came to ~$8,000.
- School "deposits $12,000 refund in my bank account."
- It's not there.
- School swears they sent it, bank swears they didn't receive it.

The only thing I could think of was the school sent the cash to another account. You think the school will give me the account number of where they sent the refund so as I can check it against my bank account number?

Ugh, I'm convinced my school just enjoys screwing me.

You should not worry. They will be able to trace where they sent the money, and if they "swear" they sent it, then they should have no problem showing you proof of when and where it was deposited.

Damn.. Get the account, find the owner and get it back. If not, sue at will. $12,000 is NOT peanuts.

Go to somebody in the school cashier's office and talk to the manager or somebody who's not a dumbass pretending to be a student. Ask the person w/ a brain to put a trace on the money that's supposedly refunded to your bank acct. Find out what routing number they used. They always have records and paper trails for things like this.

Hopefully your school has a College of Business with an accounting department. I would go there and tell the head of the department to help you out in this situation. They probably can't afford decent help in the bursar's office. :D

Go to the Finance office, ask who you need to speak with concerning a $12,000 refund you have not received. Once you know who the right person is, make an appointment to meet. Bring your bank statement, explain what happened and ask what steps need to be taken to resolve it.

Don't ask them for account numbers of where it got deposited. That won't help you. They need to solve this.
