The Vibrant 4G actually supports 21+mbps but thats a moot point.
You won't see any where near that speed in the near future.

i'm going off of the fact that they demoed 21mbps at ces, and it was running at about 18mbps. so at least in LA it seems to be active already if you have the hardware (which at this point is limited to their usb modem I think)

I had a g2 at one point, best I got was 6+mbps.
I have a Vibrant right now and I get around 3-4mbps in both Orlando and Sacramento.

as i said above, i was referring to the network, not current phones. the only current 21mbps device is the webconnect rocket, but afaik, 21mbps is available in several markets.

That's like complaining you're not getting your full exact speed specified from your land provider. Of course you won't get 21Mbps on their speed but you'll get higher than the 14.4Mbps speeds that you were getting before. Same with LTE, same with WiMax.

It's called higher averages. Your higher average speed will be faster. You're NEVER going to get the highest speed they list from any provider. This is nothing new. The speeds you were getting on 14.4 have the potential to be higher with 21. This is the same with anything.

I own a g2 and i modded it with cm7(gingerbread 2.3) overclocked to 1.5ghz. I feel this phone can shit on any phone minus no front facing camera and small battery. Got it free last month.
Dont hate android because of the mainstream phone you are using. Get a higher quality one and you will be impressed.

You mean "4G"??? You should automatically get the speeds if you're in an area that has it. T-Mobile's "4G" is just a faster version of 4G. Only way you'd know you'd be getting it is if you notice things load faster or running a speed test. On T-Mobile's site they have a map showing the available areas for it.

go to settings > wireless and networks > mobile networks and make sure that "use only 2g networks" isn't checked.

since TMobiles 4G network is basically 3G on steroids there really isnt a way to tell the difference. If you go into phone status you can see if its on HSDPA, which usually means 4g, if it says UTMS or EDGE you arent. The only real way is to do a speedtest and see what you are getting.
