Went to Burger King today craving something greasy and bad for me, which I don't normally do, but every now and then I'll indulge a bit because I eat pretty healthy most of the time.
I always order from the value menus to limit portion sizes, anymore. I was looking at the value menu with indecision, and the clerk mentioned they have a $1 double cheeseburger (but its not on the menu). So I ordered one along with a small onion rings.
Got home and was surprised at how generous the beef patties were. I'm an experienced value menu eater so I know what the competition offers on their $1 menus. This was definitely more generous than I've ever seen for a $1. Even Jack-in-the-Box raised the price of their Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger to $1.20 (around here), and it has less beef than BK's.
Then I remembered...a couple months ago I read an article/news blurb about Burger King franchise owners suing Burger King because they were losing money on one of the $1 menu items. I thought, could this be it?
Yes it is!
I can actually understand their point now. Nobody else offers a cheeseburger this generous for less than $1.40, maybe even $1.50.
