do what everybody else in the air force does to advoid the fat boy program and go on the Exlax weight loss program.

I have seen many people do this when they are borderline for their weigh in.

yah but I've still got 5 days, I'll go the lax route if I'm a few over at day 5.

I was gonna ask if you were military before I got halfway though the thread.

keep up the aerobic exercise/drink lots of water. Your body works better when hydrated. Poop, piss and lay off the water 12hrs before the weigh-in. On your weigh in if your over a little you?ll get taped' for body measurements. If you fail they just tell you to come back.

Just a few other pre-enlistment pointers here.
For gods sake don?t go into any 'open general' career field except electronics. Make sure you have a decent guaranteed job, if not already. If your transportation/logistics/security forces or a lot of other positions (even Comm ) don?t be naïve about the fact that you?ll be deployed and maybe running convoy duty in downtown Baghdad at some point. Air Force or not my unit has 1.5hrs mandatory PT 5 times a week Otherwise it?s an awesome opportunity to get you where you want to be. Also, Try and pick a job that clears you for a security clearance.

So what would happen if you were a very ripped, heavily muscled individual that happened to weigh 190lbs with a 6-7 BF%? Do they have an exemption for that sort of thing or not?

Thanks for the tips! I'm actually only in the pre planning phase. I still have to take the ASVAB and get my entire physical taken care of. But I'm pretty sure the recuiter will let me slide with the max 185lbs because I scored a 92/98 on the pre asvab 😛. I'm actually looking at some of the intel, photo analysis jobs they have. Then maybe go OT after a year or two in.

I was going to try to get in as an officer to begin with, but my 3.2 GPA doesn't seem to be good enough for the airforce since it's a non engineering degree. 🙁

Don't know, cause I'm not very ripped or heavily muscled 😛, but I'm sure they'd have some exemption for meatheads like that 😀

First they weigh you and if your over your weight then they will measure your body fat. you get put on the fat boy program if you have over 20% body fat.

now... is this a bad thing? Does it mean less work during bootcamp? 😀

Being put into the fat-body squad in boot camp might be the best thing that ever happens to you.

Hey now I can do all of the honor squad requirments for push ups, sit ups, and pull ups! I'm just gonna have to work on my running once I get there. Which I assume we'll be working on a lot.

Theres not really an honor squad per sey. However, To be an honor grad you have to meet those requirements plus be in the top two otherwise. Usually that only goes to those that have found themselves in leadership positions like being flight leader or element leader and so on, so volunteer. Nothing to sweat about. Still, the honor grad is a one shot ribbon deal. There are generals that wish they had earned it from thier time in basic.

Make sure you have your education records at MEPS. That will get your degree inputed on your record when you in process. This will set you up to get a 'leadership position'
because your Drill Sgt should review everyone?s records before he picks a flight leader. If your goal is to be an officer from the ranks this helps a little but its not huge.

Inspections are pretty subjective. They'll nail you if they feel like you need to be nailed. They'll overlook stuff if it seems to them like you have your act together.

The whole basic experience is generally there to make you feel like crap at first and then 'build you back up' Your uniforms even look like crap because they don't let you iron them. The 'honor grad' types always find a way on the down low to press the wrinkles out and starch a little bit.

Take whatever you want to have access to in Tech School that fits with you to basic You'll be stuck in your room for a week or two there while your folks find a way to mail you crap. Otherwise its the most boring time in the military. Lots of standing and sitting in class Blah. Take some black flip flops for the shower. Athletes foot in basic looks like it would be hell on earth.

Meh...I did this all the time as a high school wrestler. I'm not saying that it was healthy, but it's easily doable.

Eat light and often and eat things that are easy to digest for the first few days and no food or water the last 24 hours.

Shave body hair and get totally naked on the scale for those last few ounces. Immediately after weigh-in, drink gatorade and water.

Also, if you miss weight, wouldn't they just tape you to get an approximation of body fat percentage?

the Airforce 😀

I'm actually only 5 pounds over my max, but for some reason the recruiter wants me to get 5 under that. I've been exercising regularly and watching what I eat the past two weeks, but I think I'm gaining too much muscle mass cause my wieght has stayed more or less the same.

Trust me, you're not gaining too much muscle mass. You'd be lucky if you can gain 10 lbs of honest muscle in a year.

This is easily doable. My friend had to suck weight for the Navy and managed to cut down about 15lbs in a week and a half.

You will be losing mostly all water weight, so you will be very dehydrated. Basically its a perversion of the Atkins diet where you eat even less carbs, take vitamins, and laxatives.

One thing that I can almost guarantee will cut off a few pounds is if you have an enema done.

No! There is a better way.

Cabbage soup diet. You will lose 10 lbs in 5 days. Google for the recipe - it works!
