Running 12 psi on a T3/T4 Hybrid @ 12 psi, I was running 230 to the wheels on the Si model Civic.

Ah, missed this post earlier. Yea, a MKIV Supra can put out around 550 horses on stock twins, switch it to a larger single and you can bump it up to between 600-650 hp without modding internals. That's why I love the Supra
the problem with high HP supras and rx-7 are traction...i honestly think that supras are better for high speed battles
That's been my main problem for the past 5 track visits. I've decided to get some Drag Radials for the track because traction is such a huge problem. I'm hoping to break into the mid 11's once I have those on.I personally own a civic(my second one) and have had nothing but good experiences with it. One reason people dump money into a civic is because of the light chasis. The lighter the chasis the faster you can go. The reason more expensive cars have larger engines is because they need them. Another reason would be insurance. Insurance on my civic is a hell of a lot cheaper than it would be on a bigger/more expensive car. So in the long run, dumping money into moding a civic is not that illogical, because it's actually cheaper than the a more luxury type vehicle, even if they spend more on the mods than they would on a better car.

Why all the Civic hate? I guess it's fashionable to hate a car just because it's an economy car. So what if it's FWD? Do you hate 300hp Minis too? They are FWD cars. Nothing wrong with that. Does anyone here with a RWD car drift corners more than twice a year? I don't, unless I'm trying to turn onto a main road trying to leave Fry's with a truck coming at me. The point is, some cars are FWD. Live with it. I wouldn't buy a FWD car but I fail to see how that means I can't respect them. In any case, properly done AWD is superior to both FWD and RWD for pure speed in corners.
300Hp Civic? Nah, I have seen ~600Hp old Russian Moskvich 2140 No NOS, just big turbos, the engine was mostly original 1,5L SOHC 8V, 55kw in stock, nothing fancy, 60's technology inside. The car costed about $100, making it faster about $4500. And it runned 10.5 sec quater mile

Aye, I read through about half of the replies, and I already know what's going to be said...gregshin, good for you, I would've loved to have been in that car, but this is the wrong place to post it. There are people here who either don't even have a car, or drive daddy's old 88 Ford Escort, and hate on Civics. Had you claimed this with a cavalier, I'm sure you would've received different responses, but hey, ignorant people usually stay ignorant. Maybe it's just stupidity, who knows.

I totally agree. I am going to get around to moding my civic, but I'm not going to do any body mods. I have a stock spoiler(more for looks than actual downforce), and that's all the body "mods" that is going to be done to it. I'm going to drop a turbo charger, air intake, and get a 'not so fart sounding' exhaust system. I will probably get some larger rims, 18" would be the largest that I go, but I will probably only put 17s on it.
rx-7's can be great at the strip, but they really shine on the track, with the 50/50 weight dist., low weight, and the extra low center of gravity....
I don't like the idea of making a Civic into a race car either, but I can understand why people do it. They are poor car enthusiasts. Now, if someone was to put 20K into a Civic, that would be nonsense. If that were the case, then I would just get a used M3.

However, I am already going to have a turbocharger in it, so I can give the car 400HP with nothing more than bolt-on mods. In fact, it already has a few mods on it. I can't wait to get it, then I will race gregshin's friend. =)

Since you're gonna do some modding, I might as well make a few suggestions. Get the Greddy Turbo Kit w/ Type 24 intercooler and a Greddy Profec-B. Don't plan on getting an air intake, since they come as part of the turbo kit. Thermal 3" exhaust is the system of choice for most Turbo'd Si Owners, I figure it will do well on a lower model as well. Buy the book "Max Boost," and learn about the basics of Turbocharging and Supercharging so you have a good understanding of what's going on. Drop a few hundred and take it to a dyno to get it tuned. Later on, plan on getting a Hondata Stage 1, the Greddy blue box is known to have some faults. As long as you plan on running around 5.5 psi- 6.0 psi, you should do fine on stock internals. If you plan on running higher boost, get some forged pistons, crankshaft, connecting rods, etc. You can probably boost up to 12 psi on a well built engine, but I would daily drive with it set around 6 psi. Also, make sure to upgrade your fuel pump and injectors. Plan on the basic setup costing you around 6 G's, and the upgraded setup around 11+ G's. There, not a "ricer" bashing post, just an informative, slightly helpful post.
Who cares..I own an old 89 accord with 170K miles on it...Don't care what domestic lovers say...I'll laugh at them when their cars need fixing and mine is still running.
Still a civic. if anyone really wanted a fast car give the Nissan Skyline GTS-R. My firend built one with 850 something ponys. Fairly cheap

So, where's the dyno sheet proving his claim of "300 horsehower"? I'm doubting that you can get that much power out of a Honda Civic engine without resorting to nitrous.
