So I got the new Comcast HD DVR box today

Wow, this thing is cool. It's actually my first DVR box, but I can record 2 shows while watching a 3rd, it's awesome! It's suppose to be able to record something like 15 hours of HD programming or like 60 of regular. Pretty good. Has anyone else gotten one?

I  my Brighthouse HD DVR

Only like $8 more per month and came with a free year of every channel of HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, TMC & Starz 😀

I have the same DVR box. It is pretty nice. I had the older DVR box but that thing only had 1 tuner so you had to watch what you were recording. The 2 tuners makes it very nice.

that recording HD content is a bit low, most other pvrs have 30 hrs HD capacity.

Still beats the crap outta DirecTV HD-Tivo that comes in at a paltry $1000.

Yes, it's true. 😉

I've used up 2 250GB HDD to record some 720/1080p movies from HBO, Showtime and Starz HD. Also some documentaries from Discovery HD. The quality of the movies from DVDs pale in comparison.

Provided DTCP copy protection isn't enabled. All cable systems will enable it eventually. Comacst has it on sporatically in my area, working the bugs out.

So, when DTCP over Firewire is enabled, your box will show nada over component/Firewire outputs when a non-compliant device (ie😛C) is connected. I've tried it, and it works.

You will however be able to record all unprotected (locals) channels.

been meaning to get this, but havent had time to set up an appointment with the crazy work schedule. Might have to schedule something on a Saturday morning

w00t, getting my DVR installed right now.. Just in time to record the dogs/cavs MPC Bowl Game. GO DOGS!!! 😀

only 10 dollars a month? Does it act as an HD tuner as well? We've got one of the original (non-hd) pvr's - but if we could upgrade to the HD with almost no added cost that would kick ass.

it's a HD Dual-Tuner. You can record a show while watching another one. Or watch a recording while recording 2 shows at the same time . And it's only 10 bucks a month.

EDIT: It does record HD content too.

i've been on the comcast list for over a year i think. no idea when it's going to get to this area but it's Portland so i would have thought it would be here a long time ago.

MSRP, but no one should have to pay MSRP. Look around. Call DirecTV. Ask retailers. I know many that have gotten them for $600.

600 is still 300 more than Id pay for one.... Voom's dvr will be modeled like cable dvr where its a small monthly fee (rumored to be $10/month), and will be quite a bit more powerful than any tivo or cable dvr (with its whole house networking, this is all provided voom stays in buisness.

god damn it why is everyone on comcast able to get the motorola dvr and they want to give me the sceintific atlanta pos
