So I got suspended today...

Let me get everything out of the way : I'm 18 years old and in my last year of High school. I'm also in a French Catholic school(though, it's irrelevant).

Earlier today, during the lunch period, a few friends and I were throwing snowballs around because we were bored. We were simply tossing them at other people; who were, in turn, laughing and throwing them back. By the end everyone walked away in perfect condition.

Later, I get called to the office for throwing snowballs. Apparently snowballs are now considered "weapons," as my VP put it. I don't really understand the reasoning to make this action punishable. Throwing snow is no more dangerous than playing sports, yet those are perfectly allowed.

The end resulted in me getting a 1-day suspension for what I did. I don't really mind because it just gives me a long week-end. I just think it's rediculous that this kind of thing can be punishble. 😵

EDIT : Figure I should mention that I've never been suspended before and my record, until now, was perfectly clean.

Cliffs :

1. Threw snow in a non-malicious way
2. Got suspended for 1 day
3. ??
4. Profit! (Long week-end)

/rant

Feel free to flame me if you want, doesn't really bother me.

there's no need to give a crap about your "record". No college or anything is going to care if you got suspended... i don't even know if they'd see that... it sjust something schools do to scare kids into behaving...

Yup they can use it against you.

I think because it will lead to a snowball fight... endangerment of students?

I believe they can also get you for throwing a paperclip or paperball.
But the teachers don't go that far.

I don't care about my record. 😉 I just mentioned it to show that I had no prior "offenses" to make them feel the need to suspend me.

Did you laugh out loud at you VP when he told you snowballs are weapons?
Or you should have grabbed your crotch and said "yea, well I carry weapons of mass destruction on me at all times". You could have gotten a super long weekend out of it.

You think that's bad? I got suspended for telling someone [who bathed, I think once a week] they were a fungus in middle school. Apparantly I "crushed his psyche". Bullshit principals, VPs, deans, and the like are rampant.

Actually, when I was in her office she said something like "Since you're 18, we're not allowed to call your parents without you permission." I said "Go ahead, should be good for a few laughs."

Surely enough, they call and my mom finds it hilarious.

you threw them at strangers ? wow you've got ballz... too bad you're paying for it.

Nope. We were throwing them at other students and friends.

What's this world coming to? You can't throw a snowball at someone and you can't call someone a "fungus" without getting expelled? Come on, give me a break. When I was in school that stuff was normal practice. I even got the old "board of education" once or twice for throwing not snow but rocks at someone. Those were the days... None of this BS conservitism and pansy political correctness we have now.

Yeah, my school is like that too. It's just to cover their asses incase something did happen.

Retarded? Yes. Do we still do it? Yes.

I think my school does that too, since someone could be a jerk and throw snowballs with ice in the middle of them.......

But still, if it is just among friends and no one gets hurt, I don't see the big deal.

our school had that rule too. And on the Senior's last day, they would always pull a prank of sorts....and they majorly beefed up the security on that day to prevent any shennanigins 😛

I guess I should go post about it on MySpace first then kill myself.

😀

Another idea - you and your friends forgot your baseball that day, so you were playing catch with what was available.
