I have my IBM P260 21" CRT that I gave to my job a few years ago. They're migrating to LCDs, so they gave it back (a little worse for the wear).

What the heck should I do with this thing? It's like the largest class of 21" monitors available. It weighs 80lbs.

Has anyone ever used an LCD and CRT side-by-side? I guess I could use it as a space heater if I didn't live in the deep Gulf South.

Any thoughts?

I just threw it up there for size comparisons. My buddy just got me into them and it was on top of the heap.

Hmm... Now there's an idea. It's not quite charity, but I know the physics department at my old community college had *horrible* computer equipment.

Yeah, my dad hasn't taken his DVD player out of the box since he got it five years ago. He doesn't even use his Pentium 2 Celeron eMachine. :p

I have a 5 year old NEC 19 inch CRT monitor now just sitting around ever seen I got my new 20" NEC LCD monitor. Should I keep my old CRT monitor around so if my LCD monitor dies or needs repairing I don't have to be without a monitor ? There is no lcd company, that I know of, that will send you a replace lcd monitor by cross shipping after 30 days. Repairs can take a week or more.
Has anyone else kept their CRT monitor just for this reason ?

Are you a heavy gamer ? Notices your sig.

I asked because I notice you have a eVGA Geforce 8800GTS 320MB @ 625/2000 video card and for a 24" monitor and gaming that can be a little difficult with only 320 MB of memory even with FSAA and AF totally off. I guess you lose some and win some. You can't always afford the best of everything.

Huh. I've got a P202 (really similar looking). I'm too poor to afford an LCD, and outside of a cheap Black Friday special, wouldn't really buy one, but consider using it as part of a media center PC with a cable card for high-def viewing, spare computer rig for running a gaming server, etc. At the very least it's nice to have a backup in case your main monitor goes down, and a 21-incher has more real estate space than a 15-incher.
