I'm having a problem though.

It goes into sleep mode, and I can't get it to turn back on? The first time, I removed and replaced the battery and that worked.

The 2nd time, I became highly annoyed, searched the web and found that this issue is not uncommon. The recommended fix is to remove and replace the battery..

This is unacceptable. Is there a known fix for this problem? Do I have a defective phone? My battery is full.. Help!

:(

Other than this, the phone is amazing though...

Update:
Well, that didn't go so well.

I'm fucking livid pissed. This is complete and utter bullshit.

Went to two Verizon stores. One wouldn't help me at all, the other offered me a Refurbished phone. I don't understand. It's a Verizon phone, and I now have Verizon service.. why were they so reluctant to help me? I didn't do anything wrong, except apparently buy my phone online.

I wish I would have just paid the 200$ and bought it in the store now. This sucks.

So I called up Wirefly and talked to one of their can barely speak English monkeys, and they had to authorize my card for 350$ to send me a new phone without me sending back the one I have first. Fucking nonsense. Supposedly they'll refund it when they get the defective phone back.

I'm so pissed. If being added onto my girlfriends plan wasn't going to save us 60$/mo, I think I would be switching back to T-Mobile right now. I can't believe this.

In the mean time, I'm out 350$ and have a phone that doesn't work for more than 20 minutes at a time. Wonderful.

:mad::mad::mad:

Update2:

Well, spoke to Wirefly. They wouldn't send me a replacement phone without a 350$ deposit, which is bullshit. But they insisted that it would be refunded when they receive the defective phone back. They were fast with shipping the replacement at least, will be here Tuesday.

Sleep mode? You tried pressing the power button once which will bring up the unlock screen?

it sounds like your screen is just timing out. On my myTouch I have to hit the menu twice....

Have you....ummm....RTFM?

The manual doesn't say anything..

The screen goes dark due to inactivity, and I can't get it to come back on. Push the power button, hold the power button, press every key on the damn thing.. nothing happens.

This has happened twice now, and the only way I could get it to turn back on was to R/R the battery.

Like I said, a google search of this reveals many, many people having the same problem. I wonder what is going on?

Odd, sounds like you have a problem. My wife and my Droid wake right up after pushing the power button. Take it to Verizon and see what they say?

I found a reported fix. Dial *228 and pick option 2 to "Update Roaming". I did that, so far so good.. have let it go idle several times, and it wakes back up OK so far..

This is concerning though. I don't like having problems like this with a brand new device.

If it happens again, you might consider exchanging it. Mine has been solid since I've had it.

Welp, no-go..

Went to the store, had it in my pocket.. checked it several times, seemed okay.. on the 4th time I checked it, it wouldn't wake up.

This fucking sucks. I guess I got a broken one... and I bought it online, so I imagine it's going to be a pain in the ass to get this fixed. My girlfriends hasn't had any problems..

:(

The little green light is blinking saying I have unopened messages, but nothing I do makes the screen come on...

I don't have any 3rd part apps installed.. I haven't done anything with it except try and familiarize myself with it.. the first time it did this was within 20 minutes of first getting it activated..

:(

Rudeguy - my droid didn't come with a manual. only things in the box besided phone and charger were the safe driving BS and warranty/safety book

Try rooting and putting a rom on it. At some other forum, someone talked about auto brightness being at fault. Doesn't make sense to me.

Won't that void my warranty though?

Did it again after sitting for a few minutes...

Had my girlfriend try and call me, nothing.

It's basically unusable. I'm going to go to the Verizon store tomorrow. They had better replace it.

Hmm..

I wonder if it has something to do with the battery? Maybe it's defective?

It was fully charged.. I plugged the phone into the wall charger, took the battery out and put it back in, and it read 5%.. then rapidly went up to 20%, then 60%, and is kinda hanging around at 80%...

I'm going to swap batteries with my girlfriend. If her phone does it, then we'll know.

Sounds like a defective device to me.

For all, when you buy the Droid, it doesn't really come with a manual.

Took it off the wall charger, and it rebooted itself. I'm going to see if it locks up again, then swap batteries with her. Either her phone will start being weird, or mine will continue, and that should narrow it down.

Nope, no-go. Still locked up with her battery.

Will be taking it to the Verizon store tomorrow.

You got a bad phone. It happens. Take it back and they will give you a new one. Verizon is really good about that.

My wife had a bad battery and she walked into Verizon, showed them her phone, they tested it and realized it was a bad battery and they gave her a brand new phone. Took maybe 20 mins for everything.

Our store is super easy to deal with. Not sure if they are all like that, but ours is.

I talked to their manager, told him that this was unacceptable, threatened to switch back to t-mobile, expressed my concern that I'm paying for a plan that I can't even use because my phone is defective. He said I could take that up with customer service. What a crock of shit.

did you call verizon customer service or do an online chat? Sometimes they have tools that retail stores don't.

I'm not sure what that would accomplish? It's obvious that the phone is defective, there's nothing they could do to fix it.. except get the store to replace it. Is that what you mean?

The store wanted to see the problem first hand before they would even begin to help me. "Luckily" it only took a few minutes to lock up again.

When I did cell phones...we have very strict rules about what we could do with online orderes. Customer service could ship out a new phone or credit accounts for whatever charges they needed to.

Just try it. Keep calm...state your problem and ask for help.

Well, Wirefly has already shipped the new phone out.. will be here Tuesday. I have to give them the defective phone back to get my 350$ back, so I'll just have to wait for that.

Sure am not happy with my first experiences with Verizon though.
