Ill run the bench mark with those setting and ill also run Fraps and try to give you an average fps in game, ill be about 30mins.

ok, i set WiC to Very High with 1680x1050 then went into advanced options and

Turned

AA to 2x
AF to None
Tracks to Very long from Long.
Water Reflection from 768 to 1024
and ticked Water reflects clouds.

Avg 39
Min 24
Max 74

All in Winxp so no DX10.

im off to game for 15mins using Fraps and ill let you know using the same settings as above what its running like.

ok in game on the map bridge with 1 nuke and 2 carpets

Avg 35-40
min 27 ( when zooming in on units )
Max 66

All in all im well impressed. :)

this sounds like a beast of a card i was wondering if this is a better deal than a 200 dollar 8800 with aftrmarket cooler. if it runs cooler and uses less power that would be great too. from the early reviews the 9600gt seems to be equal to the 3870 so that's out of the picture for me

ive been testing DVD's with the new Dynamic Contrast and Enhanced colour and it works very well especially Pixar films like Monsters Inc and Cars.

ive even put everything back to stock because apart from Benchmarks my system doesnt need to be so highly sprung.

So im back to 2.4 on the cpu with all power saving modes on and the cards back to 650/1800.

im not even going to suggest this card as ill get some knobend flaming saying the 9600GT isnt as good as the 8800GT or ATI HD3870, the reason i chose the 9600GT is evident from the benchies. :)

first of all ... what is a "wupp wupp!' ? .. it sounds pretty English although i never ran across it

and yes, you can get one from me :)

"wupp wupp!"

Do you happen to know if the WiC 10 day trial edition DVD [multiplayer] has the built-in benchmark?

i'd like to run it on my CrossFire but don't want to sign up for MP yet UNLESS it has a built-in bench :p

that is one nice 3dmark 06 score.

its crazy, its only a 9600 series and it scores almost as high as 8800 series. this card definitely leaves the 8600 series in the dust.

Wow, these cards are amazing. I don't like the way the roadmap has unfolded; but geez, who can argue with this kind of performance for the price.

the money is in the midrange ... nvidia is a little late grasping it this time as i think they were surprised by AMD this Winter, but they strike back with a vengeance.

Competition is wonderful - if AMD didn't have 3XX0 series, we would not see 9600 for another 6 months and $50 more
... i look forward to the r700 including their midrange ... maybe we will get a multi-GPU solution this year that will play Crysis at 'Very Hi' at better than 10x7 :p

^ Exactly.

If I didn't already have an 8800GT (bought it on launch for $229 from Fry's, a good deal even by today's prices), I'd get one of these. Then again, there are MSI 8800GTs for like $10-20 more with a good aftermarket cooler, but the choices are broad and this is a good time for a budget gamer to get a graphics card. :)

Yup, its crazy...but I hope the 9800 can leave the 8800 in the dust just as well...then I would have a reason to get a single card rather than 9600GT SLI.

Will the price of the 9600 drop any time soon do you think?

would it be worth upgrading over an x1950 pro? I have an e2180 @ 2.8 ghz and I game at 1280 x 1024.

I only want to upgrade if games will play very smoothly as compared to 30 fps

The card just came out, you're expecting an immediate price drop? I'd more expect a price increase if the card is as popular as I think it is, and Nvidia can't provide enough supply like it didn't with the whole 8800GT fiasco.

8800gts640@630/2000 with a 2180@2.5 only gets over 30 frames sec min (in the cpu benchmark with the demo) @ 720p on high with xp...

but a 9600gt will spank your 1950 even with that chip... crysis will play a lot better...

gonna stick the 8800 in my 3.2 e4500 box in a couple minutes to see what some more cpu will do...

i think that the 1mb cache on the e2180 is more limiting in crysis than in some other things...

im not even attempting to play Crysis with this card, itll be a good few years and a couple of upgrades before i will.

Crysis is a pig to run and even the fastest cpu with the fastest graphics stuggles with it.

so dont worry. :)

what is your PongMark2008? what? you dont run PongMark?...lame...

explanation: PongMark2008 scores is the number of seconds that you manage to run Pong until you snap, close it and shout "i did not buy a 200$ VGA card to play PONG!"
