so I got HL2...but I need some help please

I don't game much, but I usually have one game I play on and off. I really liked BF1942 and UT2K4. Online play is nice too. Which would you recommend?


EDIT: I finally broke down and bought HL2. I am trying to install it, but keep getting some error message about a bad data cab. I know you have to install source too. I tried everything...even took the first one I had and swapped it for a new one. Anyone have this same problem?

yeah...I still play BF once in a while, but I want a game to stress out my 6800.
 
Depends on your rig. HL2 is a much better, more scalable (will play well on older systems), more immersive, more innovative game. Wait, what was i saying...? Oh yea. 😉 DoomIII stutters a little even on my 3500+, 6800 GT OC @ 1280x1024. Had to throttle back to 1024x768 to get rid of it. :thumbsdown: However, I cant wait to see what HL2 my second time through loooks like on that thing. 🙂
 
ok...its a slaughter. Am ordering it as we speak. I will finally have everything rebuilt the first part of next week and I want something that will look nice on my new LCD. I recently got the 6800GT OC and my PS couldnt handle it. So when I bought the new PS, I picked up a new LCD while I was at it.

Even though I voted for HL2. They are both good games to have in your library. Not many games out there like what you see on the consoles where you'd have a larger choice and varity.

If you like RTS games - Rome Total War =) My favorite game this year.
 
Lol. I have a 9800 pro on a 2500+ and I played Doom 3 on 1280x1024. Some of you noobs with the 6800s should defrag and stop visiting cheap porn sites.
 
They are both great games

1. DoomIII for its fantastic engine and lighting FX
2. HL2 for the best overall FPS experience
 
Just download the demos for both and decide yourself.

They both are linear. But, Doom3 is much more linear.

Far Cry is the best game ever.
 
You're bored of UT2k4 already?

I've played that game like it's crack since it came out, & i'm guessing i might just be getting bored of it by the time the next UT2k comes out 😀


Edit: Oops, sorry, yeah to answer your question, HL2 for sure.
