So I got her hitched today and its all for a good cause...

I meaning me.., & her meaning my 2000 Ford Focus.

I went to Uhaul and got a Trailer Hitch installed to my car.

Tommorow I make a trip to LA to pick up a motorcycle.. hope it does not snow !

It took a while to get teh hitch installed, they first didnt have it, then they quoted me wrong.. but later the guy called me back and said a local uhaul had it, and i can get it installed today.. so it got installed this evening..

tommorow we go back and rent a motorcycle trailer so i can run down to LA to pick up the bike.

So now the issue is.. has anyone here driven a small car with a trailer. I drove one a while back but not this long distance..

Also I need to know how to get it to get a tounge weight of <= 200 pounds. Without which im "fscked".

I am also goign to be doing the grapevine and on a manual tranny I hope i found fsck up my clutch.

I am just being a bit cautious because its my car, and i love her...

Good luck on the grapevine. You'll probably have to leave it in 3rd when going up.

How to get <= 200 lbs? Put stuff (like Vanny) in the back of the trailer. The more she weighs, the closer you can put her to the axle. That's all I'm saying. Simple physics. (drunk)

I cant understand a damn thing in this entire thread...............I am not drunk, all you guys must be😀

lol wink 😛

Anycase I think you should be ok with your bike in the trailer. It should not excert more then 200 pounds in tongue weight. It isnt that heavy last I checked 😀

if the bike is pretty well centered over the trailer axle, the tongue weight should be fine. the grapevine will be easier because you're leaving LA with the load, and north 5 isn't as steep as south 5. just be careful not to go too fast on the steep downhill part, since your brakes will be less effective and more prone to fade. i'm curious to hear how you do, so keep us posted.
