So I Got Evicted Yesterday

Yeah, around 2 pm yesterday the constable knocked on my door and told me to GTFO. Now I had a paper sent to me about a month ago saying I would be evicted if I didn't pay. So I paid after I got the form and thought everything was hunky dory. Anyway, two days ago I got my check back in the mail. I was thinking, 'How in hell did this get in the mail, I dropped this off in the night deposit box.'

So I went down to the office after the constable came over. Apparently a few people's checks had been mixed up and mailed out during the management switch up. So I gave the manager my check and another $200 and I got back in. Wow, 45 minutes of stress and then relief was pretty interesting.

I had to call out from work as there was no way I could get to work on time. I did get to run some updates on my Ubuntu box at my friend Dan's house. I also got some free food at Dan's. Overall the day wasn't too bad.

You almost got evicted, and this is your response?

😕

Getting stressed out isn't something you should be proud of... If he's pretty relaxed about what happened, why do you freak out when people drink your OJ?

😛

I would consider nearly getting evicted to be a stressful experience for anyone. If not, you're just not normal. 😛

So why didn't you just pay rent on time?

My roommate quit his last job and just got another one so I've been the only source of income for about a month here.

I don't know about the laws in your state but here in CA it takes more than one month's missed rent to have someone come to your door and tell you to get out.

Really?

In Oregon, they only have to give you 72 hours. Doesen't matter if you're a week or several months late, 72 hours to GTFO.

We were late once and we got the 72 hour notice from our landlord after 2 weeks.

Why do you have a linux box at someone else's house?

Because I do not have Internet access at home. My box uses Ubuntu so I needed to run some apt-gets for a few things.

What's a constable? Isn't that where they keep horses? Were you evicted by a horse?

I read that, and I thought: he must be British. But why $$ instead of pounds then!?
