Well i bought a lot of my songs off of MSN Music through WMP. I want to put those songs on my Ipod Nano, however Itunes points out that they are protected WMA. Is there anyway for me to get these on my iPod.

there has to be a better way than this?

ive got lots of purchased music from iTunes, but i dont have an ipod.....and i dont particularly want an ipod either since i can get (IMO) better quality from Sony's new 6Gb player for an extra £10 over the 2Gb nano

Well, even though im asking the question, it would seem that this is the only way. Those files are in WMA Protected format. I have tried everything to "unprotect" them, but it only converts the files when i burn it to a CD.

What is this new SOny thing you speak of. I like how small the iPod is though.

theres software that will do the transcode or whatever. i don't remember what it is since i don't have a use for it myself, just know it exists:p would never buy wma anyways...

as for sonys player, its got sh*t software ..and sony is the rootkit company after all. not to mention a 6gb harddrive player is not comparable to the nanos flash mem.

the difference is one is hard-drive based and the other flash-based. another $50USD will get you a 4th gen ipod photo 30gig.

You can use a program called Tunebite if you don't want to burn to CD / convert:

Tunebite

Not sure of the quality since it uses the sound card to convert the song while it's playing...may depend on how good your sound card is. But if you've got less than a hundred songs it's probably not worth it. There are tutorials on how to burn the WMAs to CD and keep the songs tags for when you convert to mp3.

i guess you missed that whole lawsuit thing against apple for using ****** build materials in the nano screen and surface...

so now you have to buy a case for your nano...which brings it close to the size of a Zen Micro (micro is shorter) @ 6GB and 16+ hours of battery life. Ipods are an Icon. Nothing more. I don't care what model you are talking about. The video now plays a whooping 2 and a half odd hours. Gratz. buy a damn PSP. You have fun looking at pictures on a two inch screen.

i was begining to really give apple credit for the Nano, it seemed like a good product. Then people i knew who had gotten them started sending them back for various problems, and then the lawsuit....

It baffles me that people would pass up something with superior storage, battery life, and versatility for something that it popular. My $150 Zen Xtra gets 16 hours of battery life, sounds amazing, is very durable, holds 30GB of music, pron, whatever the heck i want to put on it, has a user changeable battery, interfaces with any XP computer through explorer, wmp etc without any drivers....i just don't understand.

The argument of color vs monochrome screens is ridiculous. You buy MP3 player to listen to a music. Who cares if artist/song info is listed in color or monochrome.

Wait until your harddrive die. Then you'll know why flash > harddrive.

Windows Media Player 10 lets you rip MP3's.
But I still like CDex. Its faster and gives me many more options.
