So I got a speeding ticket today...

Yeah, the ticket will likely be void because the officer's lack of including payment information negates the fact that you were speeding. Jackass.

Are you a minor? If so, then yes, you probably DO have to attend court.

Either way, you're dumb for asking an internet forum this question because we can only know as much as you do. Would you REALLY trust someone if they told you that you don't have to pay it because they didn't give you any more info? Seriously.

Call first thing tomorrow, own up to breaking the law and be responsible for your actions.

damn, after your 1st ticket your arse should of been smart enough to get a radar detector...😛

go to court!

I already said in an earlier post that I was going to call the court tomorrow tard. Also I am in college, and the court date is right damn in the middle of my day, classes are from 9:30-4:00. It takes 3+ hours speeding, 3.5 hours not speeding, I would have to skip 4 classes to make a 10 minute court date, score!!!

Anyway, who are you to talk down to me? Not like you are perfect. I wrote up to AT forum because someone here is bound to have the same experience I have had, and/or knows more about the law than I do. I didnt expect a definitive answer on what and how to get out of the ticket, just advice.

I know I'm not perfect. I've had speeding tickets... and guess what? I owned up to my mistakes and paid them. Hope 30 minutes was worth a hundred bucks or so. Mostly I'm just annoyed because everytime someone posts a thread about getting a speeding ticket they always seem to think that they should be let off the hook for some minor flaw or simply because it wasn't that bad.

The question you are asking is not answerable by anyone but the court system of the county the ticket is issued in. The only legitimate advice someone here could give is to call and find out.

There are too many possibilities.

-The officer may have just forgotten or not had any and didn't care that you had to do the extra work to find out the fine.
-The ticket may not be payable by mail, but may be payable without court.
-The ticket may be excessive speed for that county and require court.
-If your two tickets were very close and in the same county, they may require you to go to court. (both this and the previous two could mean the judge gets to dictate the fine/sentence)
-If you did not have your proof of insurance on you, they want you to pay in person so you can show that... otherwise you're screwed.
-If you have previous warnings on record, or traffic camera evidence of infractions, they may require you to attend because of this.

Every state varies. In some states, you may be able to call a number (usually listed on the ticket) and a recording can tell you how much you owe. Otherwise, sounds like you need to appear in court.

Every court is different in handling traffic tickets.

If all you have is a court date, call the court and the clerk will probably tell you what to do. Also ask him/her about the possibility of plea bargaining and plea by affidavit.

What the cop told you is BS. He is not the one underwriting your insurance policy. Oh, and whatever you do, always plead NOT guilty first.

The internet has made kids stupid. Somewhere on that ticket is going to be some kind of contact info including a phone number. Logic dictates that any question regarding the ticket will be answered as soon as someone picks up the phone and dials that number.

yeah, thats the right attitude

I would have never gotten sued if the RIAA haven't been monitoring my P2P sessions.

I would have never gotten caught if it weren't for that damn DNA evidence I left behind on that condom.

I would have never gotten caught if it weren't for that leather glove I left behind.

Good thing the leather shrunk

You can void your right for a trial within 45 days. You should be able to get the date pushed back to a more convient date. If you go to court, don't contest the ticket you can attend traffic school and it is as if the ticket never happened. If you have attended traffic school within the past 2 years you won't be able to attend traffic school and you will end up with a point on your licness. You will have to pay court fees + whatever fine is assigned to you.

You are in California. He is in Minnesota. State laws are all different. For instance, Ohio only has traffic school that can extend the amount of possible points on your license before it is revoked.

His best bet is to either contact an attorney that knows what he is talking about or pay the fine and attempt to learn the lesson. Not take legal advice from the internet.

my advice to ALL AT posters....
:| Stop Speeding if you dont want a ticket. And if you get a ticket for speeding, dont complain here for sympathy. MAN UP, develop some honor and become a law abiding citizen regardless of all the others around you breaking them.

Update, its 2 days away from court date and the speeding ticket has yet to reach the city. This might be my lucky few days, because if the cop (in minnesota) doesnt turn the ticket into the city by the court date, then the ticket is void and i dont have to give it a second thought.

pray for me.

What do you mean if he doesn't turn it in? At the end of your shift you toss your paperwork in the bin and that's that. 😕
