So I got a speeding ticket today...

So I got this ticket for only going 78 in a 65 (second one), if I had been able to see the cop I would have never gotten the ticket (he was on an overpass). Anyways thats besides the point, He gave me the ticket, yet there is no information about how much, where to pay, or anything like that. All it says is my driving info and a court date. The first time I was speeding, I got some receit that said how much to pay and this ticket is missing that. Or has the process of getting tickets in Olmsted County (minnesota) changed so much that they dont put a price of speeding on their tickets?

My conundrum is, should I go to court because I dont know how much to pay and that the ticket could be void? I need help from the yall.

Update: 3 days to court date and the ticket has yet to come into the city. This means no ticket payments, insurance, or anything if its not into the city in 3 days!!!

Pray for me

I've gotten one ticket, and plenty of my friends have received tickets... they've always had the dollar amount of the fine on them... weird..

In my state, it will have a box on the ticket that might be marked Payable or something like that (it's been a while). If that box is checked, you can pay it and be done with it, but if it isn't, then you MUST attend the court date showed, no other option.

It should have a date where you must appear in court. Barring that, just go to the courthouse and pay the fine or pay the fine+traffic school or whatever so it won't get to your insurance.

Best idea is to do the traffic school so your insruance doesn't ream you.

Ah, that makes sense.

Seems like that's the case for you then, Soccerman06. Gotta show up. Have fun in traffic school.. good luck staying awake.

See the only problem is, I cant do driving school or even go to court date without skipping some classes, and driving 250 miles back and forth. I plan on calling the court and asking what.

I did talk to the cop, and he said that this shouldnt affect insurance... I looked at him like WTF because it was kinda weird for a cop to say that (and that I know my insurance did go up when I got my first ticket). He said that insurance only goes up if you get 3 tickets over 4 years (or something like that) or 2 within a year.

Definitely give them a call then and see if you can't get the date pushed back. There's a chance they will say tough sh*t though and say that you have to show.. they did that to one of my friends.. had to drive from the west side of Virginia to VA beach during the middle of the week to go to court. Then his parents had to drive him all the way back here because the judge suspended his license.

yeah, thats the right attitude

I would have never gotten sued if the RIAA haven't been monitoring my P2P sessions.

I would have never gotten caught if it weren't for that damn DNA evidence I left behind on that condom.

I would have never gotten caught if it weren't for that leather glove I left behind.

you might have to mail your ticket to the court so they can make a ruling on how much the fine should be, and they then mail the fine / sentence back to you. At least thats how it is in NY state

78 in a 65 on a flat interstate isn't that ridiculous, jeez.

85-90 is pretty close to normal on I75 (70mph limit)..so I'll have to agree with you. 🙂

You're going to have to show. I got a ticket once upon a time ago for 62 in a 40. There was no fine to pay on it, just a court date. I showed up, talked with the prosecutor and got sent to traffic school, and it never hit my record.

I hear that, I get passed going 80mph on I35 North, a 150 mile stretch of a few hills and trees, people generally go 90mph. Its a college town, so most of the people are my age and speed up to school, but still 90mph! Raise the fvcking speed limit.
