So I got a speeding ticket on the I-10 freeway near LA.

yeh seriously. if you were clearly doing something wrong, ie driving over the speed limit, you get a ticket. OP is only b!tching and moaning because he got singled out. BFD. you broke the law, now pay for it.
 
Consider yourself lucky that the cop didn't pull you out of the car, yell, "gun!!" and then shoot you in the face. Next time don't stop... you were driving an STi.

70-75 and you'll never get pulled over in L.A. This was a case of cop pulling over a vehicle because it looks like a street racer.

BTW-That car is difficult to keep under 80 on the freeway. It just begs to go faster.

Yes! Exactly! For fun I've been driving the speed limit 65/55 at times and guess what the fvck happens? Everybody and their grandma's are driving 80+ past my ass. WOW. I have people in the far right lane hugging my ass. I'm going to have a passenger film me going at the speed limit and then have them film others going past at 80+ and film their license plates and then ask WTF are they now?

So first you're asking why the cop isn't out doing something better besides give out tickets, and now you want them to ticket everyone going over the speed limit?
 
Fvck that! I break the law and I pay? I wish I could give that CHP guy a ticket. Those bastards blast by at 90+ easily at times without any sirens and etc. I work at a hospital and even talk to them in the ER room about them going fast and they just do it for fun.

Yes. I'm now asking wtf are they doing besides driving around with the freeway cleaners,
filling their ticket quota, or aimlessly driving down the freeway at mach 1 speeds just for the heck of it. I drive the same route every damn day and hardly ever see the chp.

Yes. I'd like to change my tampon and shove the used one right down your mouth since you're Mr. Legal and I abide by the law 100% at the time when knowingly no one abides by traffic law 100% of the time.

It's true. I'm surprised that he got pulled over for an 80 on a 65 myself. Being in California for 3 years, 80mph is average speed and '90mph' is ticketable speed. Well... then again that assumes no traffic. So my point may be moot.

I think he meant that the 10 freeway sucks ass (especially going east in the afternoon time on weekdays). I used to commute from USC to Monterey Park which is 10 miles and it took me 1 hour every fvcking day.
 
Gah I only read like 1/3 of this thread, but anyways... the two radar detectors you will choose between.
Passport Escort 8500 X50 or the Valentine One.
The Val 1 is $100 more at MSRP, but it does have high performance and has the arrows to tell you where the radar is coming from. For example: You are crusing down the interstate and radar hits you. You would think it is from the front, but there are cops that do go 10+ over the speed limit (it is illegal, but who is going to stop the cop???). After like 10-20 seconds you think it is safe again to start speeding up as if the cop was on the other side he would've went passed. But he is really behind you and that is where the Valentine One comes in handy.

Escort 8500 X50 has better POP detection and perhaps exceeds/matches the performance of the Val 1 except in laser. You can choose between red or blue as the LED color. There are many review sites out there that are pretty biased, for example: Escort 8500 X50 receives a 99 where the Val 1 gets a moderate 80. The difference between the two isn't that big at all.

Just a FYI, if you get hit by laser you can't brake in time to lower your speed. Also, laser is more focused so you probably won't pick up the laser signal unless it hits YOU.

Bottom line: Both of these radar detecters are top of the line, but the major difference is the Valentine One has directional arrows and probably a tad bit less in performance overall when compared to the Escort 8500 X50.

I own the regular Escort 8500 and it is pretty good, but I would love the arrows and sensitivity of the Valentine One combined with the performance of the Escort 8500 X50. 🙂
