So I got a new road bike a few days ago

Its a sweet bike with nice compents. Its got ultega shifters in the rear and 105's in the front. But thats not what I want to talk about. What I want to talk about is the dipshit 16 year old who hit me a few hours ago.

So there I was riding in the bike lane going about 15mph. I'm comming up to a cross street. I am about to go through the intersection when all the sudden a car comes up right beside me and precedes to turn right. He cuts me off and subsequently hits me. He stops as I tumble onto the pavement and I get up. The kid has the nerve to say "dude I thought you were turning, are you ok?" I'm thinking... WTF was he smoking? No I wasn't turning, did I give any indication I was going to turn? Did I use a hand signal, or point in any fashion? NO you braindead fool. So I get up and I was fine, some minor road rash is all. I notice my grip tape was a little torn but that is no matter. It's when I get about a mile down the road that I notice that my rear wheel is a little bent. It's nothing major, I hsould be able to fix it by tightening some spokes and loosening some others. But stills, this bike is only a few days old and allready it needs some fixing. Bah, there is no justice in the world.

I've almost killed two bicyclists in the last week:

1)I was turning left from a two lane road into a parking lot. as I move towards the parking lot, and idiot riding on the wrong side of the road comes from my left and passes a few feet in front of the car.

2) I'm making a right turn at a four way stop, an idiot riding on the wrong side of the road comes out from behind a bush on the corner and misses my car by a few feet.

Anyone who rides a bicycle: RIDE ON THE CORRECT SIDE OF THE ROAD.

Note: I'm not insinuating that you (illusion88) were on the wrong side of the road, or that all cyclists ride on the wrong side of the road. Your story jsut reminded me of that. And I wanted to point out how dangerous it is.

Anyway, sorry to hear about your bike, glad you weren't hurt though. Hopefully I'll be getting a new road bike soon, too. a mountainm bike is lousy for commuting long distances on.

Justice would have been served if his car exploded when he hit you (although for some reason, you would miraculously be spared from the effects of the blast, I'm not exactly sure why).
