Start with the classics like Debbie does Dallas, then move in to the more contemporary Jenna Jameson era stuff.

Don't play "I'll show you mine if you show me yours." There are some pretty manly 5th graders out there, and it might damage your self-esteem.

Was at my daughters spring program last week - she's in 1st grade. It looked like some of the 5th graders should have had that talk in 4th grade :Q I don't remember girls being that developed when I was in elementary school.

I'm not ready for that yet.

Just remember to teach them the golden rule "If there's grass on the field, play ball. If not, play in the mud." That can't possibly steer them wrong.

Yeah, we actually started talking about the plumbing in 2nd grade.
I think its best. Let the kids learn BEFORE they get any preconcieved notions. The longer you wait, the tougher it is.

I remember when I had that talk in 5th grade, we did the anonymous box thing. One kid asked, and the teacher read it outloud, "Can you break a boner?" Needless to say, everyone was laughing their ass off for half an hour straight... even the teacher thought it was pretty funny.

**UPDATE 03-23-06**
Well, the class went well. Although there was a lot of chitter chatter, I think it was about puberty in general. I handed out slips of paper (pink also), and they wrote questions on the paper and put them in a basket. Then I drew out random ones and talked about it. Afterwards, we watched a 15 minute video and then had a short question/answer session and it was over. An hour goes by so quick!

Strangest question written down: Can a man have a penis AND a vagina?

:D
