what did he mean by that...what situation?

He was referring to the recent "DOOM" virus that is spreading around. Even though I have not a single reported instance of the email showing up in any inbox.

but, he is using his personal computer for work?...i usually discourage that. I mean he has a right to ask for an
alternative and state that he doesn't want to use his own personal system for work.

He HAS a company laptop. He is too lazy to change the dial up numbers and he didn't like using the trackpad so I gave him a mouse to use...but it's still "cumbersome" as he put it.

Sooooo, instead of using the company laptop he is using his personal computer to check emails while the company laptop sits there collecting dust. I've got 40 corporate users that use home computers to check their email after hours, myself being one of them.

i think he just wants a better laptop.

i had requests like these before...all i did was refer them to their VP...
and let him/her handle it. They manage their own budget so if he wants me to buy
a new superfast lappy for the dude to check his email fine...no biggie.
no shirt off my back.
