So I get my BFG 5900NU back from RMA.....

codeyf

Lifer
Bought it off the forums for $150. Retail, used for about a month and pulled.

I get it, and I've got artifacts during BIOS, Windows boot, and in windows. Seller said he never did a flash on it, and it worked fine when he used it. No biggie, call in an RMA.

This bad boy showed up on friday. I was looking at the packing slip before taking it out, and I noticed they crossed out where it said "128MB" and wrote in "256MB". Right there I'm kind of like woot....

Take her out of the bag and sure enough, they replaced it with a 5900 Ultra 🙂 And she works like a charm too! Only thing I don't like is that it's the plain-vanilla reference design. I liked the flashy chrome heatsink on the 5900 MUCH better.

I was scared at first doing an RMA cause of the BFG horror stories, going through 2 and even 3 RMA's. But they came thru like champs!

Same exact thing happened to me bro. The card in my sig was an RMA for a BFG 5900nu. They sent me the 256MB 5900Ultra in its place with the 128 crossed off just as you described. Woooooohoooooo. A 330.00 card for 169.00.. Cant ever beat that. Congrats to us!

I wouldn't let my disappointment with a lack of bling on the heatsink get in the way of intense joy at gettings such a killer video card back from RMA! 🙂

Congrats, always nice when a company goes above and beyond.

dang.. now i'm kinda depressed my bfg 5900 has run perfect since day 1...

Well you could always do like some morons--flash the bios, overclock it to 700/1200, and then after it dies rma it.

Don't you mean "thieves" instead of "morons" modepepe? 😉
(although I suppose you could argue that their thieving nature is evidence of their lack of intellect?)

I dont know what this RMA thing you guys talk about is but it sounds awsome pitty we dont have RMA in Australia

If somethings broke we send it back and get a replacement its called ...--> A Warranty Replacement kinda like a 12 months warranty and such ... / Or Refund in some cases but we never call it RMA ... You americans and your naming of things 😀 bla ! RMA is a silly word i would of called it a ChuZwoZa !!!

acroynms. ?? .. returning a broken product under Warranty should be called returning a broken product ( rfunding / Replacing )

its not worth giving it an acroynm !!!

It is returning it under warranty, videoclone.

The "RMA" comes from having to get an "RMA number" to put on the outside of the package when you return the item.

This way the mfg will know what is in the package, that it is an authorized return, and what to do with it when it arrives.

This way both parties know what's going on, and can keep track of the item.

Don't tell me you just send things back unmarked out of the blue?

You had a one room schoolhouse didn't cha?

😉

I'll probably be RMAing (warranty returning 😛) my BFG 5900 (loose VIVO dongle and it locks up in games for about a minute or two then magically works again), good to hear that people are getting upgraded. Hopefully me being there in person will influence their decision 😉.

RMA stands for Return to Manufacturer Authorization.

Return Merchandise Authorization
Return Material Authorization

Depends on who you ask & what company.
Honeywell uses RGA for Return Goods Authorization.

Oh, believe me, it was only an issue till it was installed 😉

BFG is a good company. My 5950 Ultra came OC'ed out of the box for the core at 510 instead of 470, while that isnt much of a bonus its still nice to some who may not want to OC their card. I just RMA'ed some memory to GEIL and was hoping that they would be cool and upgrade it to 1GB but Im not sure if God wishes to bless me in that way.
