Ben Affleck's movies all sucked except Pearl Harbor and even that was lackluster.

Pearl Harbor has to be the worst of them. You know what little Ben says? He says (something along the lines of) "the P-40 can't outrun the zero, so we will have to out maneuver them." Can you believe that sh!t? Whoever wrote that line deserves to have his eyes plucked out. Anyone who is making a WWII movie should know enough about WWII to realize that virtually all of the american fighters could not outmaneuver their Japanese opponents, but could outrun, outgun, and out endure them. The German planes had more in common with US aircraft, that is, high top speed, poor turning circle, etc. The Japanese aircraft were all quick turners, fragile, low top speed, and good climb. Jesus, I can understand Joe Average not knowing, but Joe "I direct WWII movies" Average should either know that or have his eyes plucked out. Can you believe how many levels of editors that line must have gotten through. Every one of those editors should be stripped off all his wordly possessions and be forced to live in a cardboard box on the streets. Argh.

Oh my Gawd, my eyes nearly bugged out of my head when I read that. An abnormal reaction for most people, but my father was in the Air Force and I was constantly told stories about aircraft while growing up, we watched WWII movies that primarily featured aircraft, watched aircraft documentaries, read about them, etc.

If I had seen that in the theatre and heard them say that on screen, I have no doubt I would have stood up and said "WHAT THE FSCK!?" in a voice that probably would have been heard out in the theatre corridor.

Now I want to go watch Tora! Tora! Tora! just to stop my brain from hurting.

He had a pretty big role... much bigger than Ben's.

#1) John Woo has sucked since started directing in America.
#2) Boiler Room ruled
#3) I havent seen, nor do I plan to see, Paycheck

maybe it was the fact that when i saw this, it was a telesync or SMR rip, but the movie sucked. Granted, i watched the whole thing, but i couldn't wait for the end.

never saw his stuff from outside the US but ya on the whole his moveis blow. they might have a couple seens that look cool but the rest of the movie is pure crap.

Good Ben movies :

Dogma
Mallrats
Chasing Amy
Jay & Silent Bob
Good Will Hunting
Boiler Room
Dazed & Confused
Shakespeare In Love
Sum of All Fears
Paycheck

I may have forgotten some. For some reason I have a knack for remembering even the small roles of actors/actresses.

I just watched it a few nights ago. I liked it a lot. A bit cheesy in some places, but a good movie nonetheless.

I enjoyed it. It was a fun story and I think Uma, Ben, and his friend all did a good job. I wouldn't watch it again, but I'm not mad for seeing it.

I can't think of one GOOD John Woo film that I have seen.
Broken Arrow - terrible
Face Off - I thought the concept was interesting, but I absolutely hated the directing and I'm not a fan of Travolta or Cage.
Heh, that's all the John Woo films that come to mind.

Anyone else see this and like it?
It was cool, but like almost every movie starring Ben Affleck (especially Daredevil), his obnoxious over-cockiness ruined his character.

Watch Hard Boiled, The Killer, or A Better Tomorrow.

All of those movies are Chinese. I'm not big on foreign film, unless it just has some outstanding martial arts or very interesting plot.

Also noticed that he did mission impossible 2. Another terrible movie, but I blame that more on Tom Cruise than Woo.

I'm sorry, I forgot that good movies are made only in America.

If you only know John Woo by the films he's made in America, then you know jack sh!t about him and his work.

No, not all good movies are made in America. Some are made in Australia, Crocodile Dundee anyone? 😱

I don't see foreign films because I've never heard of them. If you haven't noticed, they don't get advertised here in the states. I don't go out to the video store to randomly select foreign films to waste my money on.

I do know jack sh!t about Woo's work. I know all of his American films have sucked ass and if you haven't noticed, this thread is about one of his American films!

You know Steve, you don't always have to be such an a$$hole.

You know something about a portion of his work that comprises only a small part of all of the work he has done. As well say, "I know all about cars. They have round things on them called tires!"

If you're interested in his work, why not examine his foreign films? They're his best work. They are available with subtitles, or dubbed for the illiterate.

EDIT: My bad, I confused the OP with one of the latter entrants to the thread.

I saw that movie in this cheap theatre, and you know how they will split movies into 4 different reels? well this theatre accidently played them in 1-3-2-4 order instead of 1-2-3-4 so we see Bennifer using the 10 or whatever objects before we see him get them from the bank.... go figure

He said "the P-40 can't outrun the zero, so we will have to out fly them, " not necessarly outmanuver them. And the zero was faster than the P-40.
