So i finally pulled the trigger and bought Opera.

i'd been using firefox for quite a while now. from .7 to 1.0PR, and it seemed to get worse as they went along. a lot of extensions i use wouldn't carry over from version to version etc. it was becoming a hassle. i also noticed with version 1.0 that IF you put your laptop in hibernate (instead of shut down) frequently, it would take more and more resources until it just wouldn't respond to java, so that if you hit the "quote" button here at AT for example, the next window wouldn't pop up. i'd have to restart the machine and it would be fine.

those kind of things annoyed me.

i downloaded opera about 2 weeks ago and today i pulled the trigger.

i like it, it seems stabler than firefox and more polished. so i guess that's what i'm paying for a slightly more polished and stabler version of firefox.

 
Wrong forum but anyways I disagree. Opera is more of a system hog and it freaks out if the link is dead or not responding.
 
what's with all the wrong forum nazi's lately?? we've discussed firefox here at OT so many times in the past, because i post something about Opera, it's all of a sudden Wrong Forum?

just another panel on top, there is a section at the top where they scroll ad's thru. if you pay, that goes away.
 
I use Opera too. But some sites like Pontiac.com, don't load correctly for me. I also have the latest version of Opera too.

I'm to used to it though to FF.

I just found a crack for Opera. No need to spend money! 🙂 <Flamesuit on, but slightly unzipped>

btw, my favorite feature with opera so far, hit the reply button, type content, hit tab and hit return, voila.

this is something that never worked for me in firefox or in IE.

As for the topic if you like it then that's all that counts. If you feel it's worth the money then it is.
 
Opera is rather nice. Made the switch quite a while ago and IMO no other browser can come close to how good it is. 6MB disk space foot print, built in e-mail client, really easy to use interface and a bunch of other features plus with the release of 7.6 preview gmail works now. Soon as I can afford to, I'll be purchasing a license.
 
I :heart: Opera.
Now that even Gmail works under Opera, I have no reason to have any other browser installed (besides IE for Windows update, that is).
 
nice welcome to teh club Opera is awsome, ive been useing it for years, its NOT a hog you can just set it to use liek 5 megs if you want to, ive discovered that 15-20megs is the sweet point for speed and shuch setting it too small hurts it
and it is faster then FF
 
My Opera doesn't save anandtech-based URLs in the address bar. Also, some pages don't load properly, and Opera loads very slowly. And it doesn't seem as stable as Opera.

However, I love the instant loading when you press forward/back in Opera.

I found the above rather confusing, but if you go into a bit more coherent detail, perhaps others (including myself) could offer a bit of advice.

On a side note, have been using Opera since December 2000 (~v 4.x). Excellent application, and a very innovative design team.
