So I drove home from tally last night. Long drives suck.

6 hour drive doing 90mph the whole way. Of course my AC didn't work, even though I just spent $350 on a new compressor before I left for college. The system was left open for about 2 years so I guess it developed a leak or two. The AC only worked for a few days. 🙁

It was the first long drive by myself, and the first long drive w/o AC. I was up since 7am yesterday, went to class, then drove until 11pm that night. It was a horrible drive. Couldn't keep my eyes open. My windows down so my ears were ringing by the time I got home. I think I'll get a recharge kit for my ac and fill it up just so I can get back with some AC.

It's nice to be home though, even if it's only for 2 days.

I-10 sucks - try taking US98 along the coast - much mroe entertaining. th eweather's been horrible lately - like 90+ with wicked humidity, you're nuts for drivng with no A/c 😛

Did you replace your receiver/drier when you did the A/C? If left open, it will absorb moisture from the air and become saturated, rendering it useless. WHen the system is sealed back up, the saturated R/D will not absorb any moisture trapped in it, and this trapped moisture can damage your new compressor.

When I worked at Advance, we wouldn't warranty compressors unless the customer could prove that a receiver / drier was installed at the same time for this reason.

I wouldn't run the A/C any more until you can get the R/D replaced. It's a cheap part, and you need a recharge anyway...plus it beats the crap out of buying yet another new compressor.

Oh, and 6 hrs is nuthin 😛 I did a 14 hour non-stop trip in my Trans Am on more than one occasion. Now THAT sucked.

Six hours isn't bad... I wouldn't want to do it more than once a month or something, but I'm sure I could handle more often than that if I needed to do so.

Never had a problem on i-10 - drive it from the Marianna exits to Jacksonville an d sometimes to Tampa. It's fast - have no problme averagin 90MPH, jsut sooooooooooo boring.

It's not bad. At least it's got hills. It's gets pretty boring once you get farther south of ocala on I-75.

but if you take hte beach route - its sooo much nicer. YOu guys shoudl really come down and see cape san blas - it'ws beautiful 🙂

well i didn't replace the r/d because it was replaced about 6 months ago when i had my evaporator core replaced. then my compressor seized up. i think it was sealed for that amount of time. i dunno. but when i unhooked the compressor a lot of freon came out. so i just saved the r/d.
