i was scared at first....but i just found ****** that i would like to talk about that other people would find funny...we had 3 'major' speeches for the sem...i got an a- and have never taken a speech class and have only given like..2 speeches prior...

mine were on: why people should watch south park, salvia divinorim, and how to drift they were all fun and i had people laughing the whole time...thats the key for me at least

i was there once. i dropped out of speech class twice. after transfering to a school that requires presentation in almost every class i took, i'm getting better at it. just keep practicing and be prepared and you'll do fine.

My speech teacher was the best teacher I have ever had. I hated giving speeches though and still do.

Take a couple shots prior to your speech.

gives the impression of eye contact, when infact you arent giving them eye contact.

and if you know what your talking about and have your facts straight it will be ok.

Well the reasons are twofold:

First, it is a Summer Semester crammed into 4 weeks. We had to give five, 10 minute RESEARCHED speeches from MEMORY. If we were 10 seconds over or under the 10 minute rule, you lose 20% of the grade on that speech. Im sorry, but I dont memorize things that quick.

I also couldnt even touch on a subject I had researched before in any other class. I was hoping I could cannabalize at least a few previous research papers and convert them into the speech format, but I'm not allowed to.

The speech class I had you'd get raked over the coals for that. The instructor made it clear that you had to make eye contact with EVERYONE, not just stare blankly ahead.

Here's your problem. You aren't memorizing a speech. You're discussing a topic for 10 minutes. If you've properly researched a topic, you should damn well be able to talk about it for 10 minutes in a somewhat ordered manner, without memorizing much other than a few cue sentences or words to keep your order right
