Im sitting here writing a paper and I have decided I dont like my key board to much. The keys are hard to push and Im not to fond of it right now. What kind of keybaords are out there right now. I have been out of the loop for a while. I dont really have a buget, something reasonable thought. I currently have a Logitec media keyboard I believe.

This is the one I got:

Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000

Can be had for less than $30, and it's great. Curve is gentle enough to be useful ergonomically and in games (not split). Keys are low profile, easy to push, not loud. Extra keys aren't bad, has a few for media, explorer and the calculator which I actually use a lot. Only bad thing is it's black: looks cool, but say hello to dust.

Saitek Eclipse or Logitech Ultra X... the first one has a good tactile feel and the second has a laptopeyfeel.

I actually use the first gen board. Can't tell you how the current version is, but I love my one.

Wow, I really like the idea of that board. Even though it would drive me crazy at first, I think it would increase my typing speed. Not to mention it looks awesome. I like the oldschool clicky keys... Cool:)

If you don't mind a little noise, you might consider an old IBM 'model M' keyboard. Arguably the most ergonomic keyboard ever made, for more than one reason. Plus they are built extremely sturdy. Many are still in in operation after over a decade of use. Try that with most modern keyboards.

Model M can be had from a few places on the net. This is one ~ http://clickykeyboards.com/ ~ There is always eBay too.

BTW .... a model M was used to type this ... <click-click> :D

I have the Ultra-X. I believe it is OEM only, so you won't be able to find it in stores. The keys are very similar to the dinovo keyboard ones. I like the ultra-x feel more. I bought the wireless ultra-x desktop, but it's not the same. I liked the wired kb so much, I tried to buy a couple extras from newegg at their current price, but it was sold out and still is.

There appears to be a new "ultrax media usb keyboard." Mine is PS2 only, and has crap for shortcut buttons, but I deal with it okay. It isn't improbable that the keys feel different. The new kb is $25 shipped from zipzoomfly.com. The version I have is the same price, but comes with a crappy mouse.

I remember when you could still get the original from Lexmark. I loved those keyboards. Stupid enough to give my last one away when I passed the machine it was plugged into off to a younger relative. In addition to the link above (which is for originals) this company is making them new.

That is the best keyboard out right now.

I've been using a Microsoft Natural Elite for a few years now. Prior to that I used a split style ergonomic keyboard that came with a Dell I bought in 1998.

Honestly once you start using a split style keyboard it's really near impossible to go back to the old standard style for a couple reasons. The first being that it's just really comfortable to be able to let your arms rest in a more natural position when you type. And the second being that it also pretty much destroys your WPM ability on a generic keyboard. But even though I can barely use a regular keyboard now (at least for typing much) it's worth it.

The only thing about my current keyboard that I didn't/don't like is that it's kind of compact, and in an effort to save space they redid the arrow keys and location pad differently than a standard keyboard. It messed me up at first, and though I've since gotten used to it, there's really no good reason for them to have done it to save like 3cm of width.

I've been using Saitek Eclipse for almost 2 years, same as beemercer linked to above.

I like it , especially it's key response.

I haven't tried the Das Keyboard (though I've been VERY tempted to buy one, as I use both Dvorak and qwerty layouts, and I get confused if I try to type "qwerty" on a dvorak board, or dvorak on a "qwerty" board, blank keys would make me more efficient at both I'd think.

That being said, IBM Model M keyboards are the shiznit. You can usually find them for around $30 or so these days (ebay is a good place to look).

The Das Keyboard is simply badass. Also, it's hilarious watching people's reactions when they sit down to use your computer.

I have gone through many keyboards and have finally settled on the Saitek. I have had it for over a year and have never gotten tired of it.

I know they are advertised as being mechanical .... Is it the exact same 100% identical tactile feel as model M keyboards?

I've been wanting a blank keyboard for a while, and taking off the key "caps" on the model M leaves slightly smaller than desired keys ...
