So I came to a conclusion about P&N

All these cliches...neocons...rich kids... blech...they mean nothing. Why cant people discuss topics without labeling everything?

Thats all.

politics ignites passions, and when someone becomes so overwhelmed with emotion their IQ suffers. they quickly resort to namecalling and bickering. no one sees the fact that we need these angers and sympathies. differant groups pulling away in differant directions is what keeps us centered.

Have you asked yourself why you ask this question, what is behind it? Could it be that you have some need of others that they be some particular way that is agreeable to you? Do you know why that might be? I know you must think you know but do you? Behind the obvious is the hidden. To ask a question is not a guarantee that one wants a real answer or that one is really even asking that question.

Now if it were I that was expressing what you have, for example, I would immediately suspect this:

I want a better discussion, one that is intelligent, one in which my intelligence can shine. I want the company of other brilliant people to flatter me by their company. I need them to live up to the highest standards so that I don't feel like a fool associating with them. I want to bask in reflected glory.

Unfortunately, however, I as surrounded by just a bunch of morons like myself. But I intend to try to love them because I intend to love me.

To many people want to avoid /sidestep the topics and hijack the threads to fit their own political ambitions/biases.

When people have been forcefed ideas, at a lot of times it will prevent objective discussions

The overwhelming demographic here on Anandtech are college kids with enough disposable income to build their own cutting-edge custom gaming PC's. That means rich kids having their last fling of rebellion against their parents before they settle down to conformist affluent lives of their own. I know this sounds like yet another label, but IMO you really should bear this in mind when you lurk here. Most of the angst sufferers here have never even seen the real world, much less spent anything even resembling a day as a poor person in their whole lives. "Poor" to them is when daddy turned off the credit card.

In OT maybe, here in P&N is a noticably much older crowd, oh yeah, and older does not mean conformist or conservative, notice most of the rabid bushies are the younger crowd, I figure they will go on thinking they are some poor poor opressed conservative white males for a few years until they get over the fact that life is not about impressing everyone and the world does not revolve around oneself, but that is not even a given.

There is a lot more to AT then "AMD custom rigz with teh neon fanz" and a lot of gamers/people in the tech field are older and more mature (until you get them riled up about politics heh)

Poll after poll in here have shown the "non-grownups" (evil liberals you would say) are in their late 20s and 30s (31 here) and a lot are even older. We had a big poll that also showed more "lefties" have actually served in the armed forces then their conservative ilk in this forum, so give it a rest, why don't you grow up and stuff your cliches.

Heh. You really need to stop calling yourself a "liberal." If you knew what that word really meant, you would know that it upsets your beloved El Presidente Chavez.

The discussion has died somewhat recently, I almost miss the smarter conservative members. 🙁
Pretty dim in P&N with only the liberals turned on.

How many of those 'Liberals' were conservatives or moderates. Push far enough right and everyone to the left will be liberal.

LOL! You realize that works both ways, right? Some people here are so far to the left of Lenin that they think moderate liberals are neocons.

True, in this forum at times I have been accused of being a Conservative and a Liberal on the same day.

I try to avoid labeling someone as a 'Liberal' or a 'Conservative' since those are not quantatative or qualatative -

I just call them for what the prove themselves to be in their banter - assholes.
