the lenses are fine...can i just take them to an eye place, buy new frames and have them fit these same lenses in a compatible pair?

Possible, but I doubt it. They'd have to work around your current frames and grind/cut your current one to fit the new frame. Get the exact same frames somehow? Or just pay the $40/$80 for new lenses.

Yes, it can be done.

If you got the frames at a quality shop, there should be plenty of compatible frames around. Your lenses can pop right in. Check the original store, and if they can't do it, check discount stores that have the discontined frames from the original store.

If you got your frames at a discount store, then you have the out of style discontined frames which might not be sold anywhere any more. That might be a lot more difficult to find. Sure, they can grind down your lenses to fit, but you probably are just as well off to buy the whole thing then.

Maybe. If you can go to the place you bought them from and they still stock that style, you can probably buy just the broken piece. I think altogether I've had every piece of this pair replaced (except lenses, of course) three times. They usually charged me $10-20 for each piece.

I insert old lenses into new frames all the time but try to get the exact same frame if you can from the same eyecare professional you have used in the past.

Basically get your old frame and compare the size and shape of your old ones to the frames in a shop.
