So I broke my middle toe. . .

Splint it to the toe next to it, and try to keep weight off that foot for a couple weeks.

If it's really nasty and crooked, you could probably go to the ER, but I'm not sure what they can do besides try and reset it and give you some pain meds.

The worst of the pain should pass in ~6-10 hours - I broke mine the second time around ~10pm and it hurt so bad I couldn't sleep. My foot was black and blue at the base of the toe for a few days.

I broke my right second toe, it didn't hurt much, but healed crooked (up down direction, the second segment is unnaturally pointing down all the time, even when the first and third are straight ahead). Not a big deal. My doc said there's nothing you could do and it dosen't matter.
