So I bought Xbox 360 controller

Do you seriously need your hand held for every step of this process?

At the end of the day, this is completely on you. No one with an ounce of common sense would have bought that thinking it was legit.

For older emulation (PSX era and prior), I still use my PSX to USB. Essentially lets me connect a PS2 controller to my computer which integrates seamless into emulators, but I have used my wired 360 controllers as well. The only problem with the 360 controllers is that if you use two of them, you have to manually install the second (or at least in my case I did) which is a royal pain in the ass just trying to find which file you need. It took me a few hours on Google and various sites to narrow it down and figure the rest out myself.

Is this just in the case of using emulators? What if, for example, I wanted to play castle crashers 2 player using two wired xbox controllers? Does steam do something to allow for better control of multiple input devices?

Alternatively, to avoid this, could one employ a wireless controller and a wired one simultaneously?

A++ would read again, wildly entertaining. The only thing that could make the packaging more obviously non-genuine is if it said "FakeroSoft" on it.

And my 360 wireless dongle is also still solid after 4.5 years.
Seller says either 5$ back and keep the item ot no refund at all. What to do? go to ebay money back guarantee service?
Take the five bucks and consider it a cheap lesson.

Considering my girlfriend and I have played through CC several times using my two wired controllers, I'd say Steam allows multiple controllers without any issue. Once you get both the controllers installed, you just leave them plugged into your PC and when you want to use them, pick them up and start playing. There were a few games that couldn't tell I wasn't using a controller and the vibration function kept responding while I was using the keyboard and mouse, so I just unplugged the controller while playing that game, but other than that, no complaints.

As for the wired and wireless, I don't know why that wouldn't work. So long as your Microsoft Essentials program detects both controllers, it should work fine.

I've actually played Rocket League split screen on PC with a wireless Xbox One controller and a wired 360 controller. It works fine.

You really thought somebody was going to sell you a $30 controller for $11?

Take the $5, grow up, admit your mistake and move on. Next time if the price is too good to be true, it is.
