So I bought some new socks at WalMart....

....and they came in a plastic bag like most socks. However, this one had a zip-lock sealer on the bag and it said, "RESEALABLE" in the top left corner of the bag. Now....could someone please tell me why they would want a resealable sock bag? The only way my socks ever lost freshness was from me wearing them... 😕

There are other things that make no sense...

like resealable bags for plastic straws. I guess they just don't want "things" getting inside... you wouldn't want to put a sock on with a spider inhabiting it, would you ?

I was in the boy scouts for years....history has shown that when it comes to that scenario, the foot prevails.

Yet they don't include resealable bags on so many food products. I'd rather have a spider in my sock than my mouth.

I think it actually said "RESELLABLE" and after you've worn your socks for awhile you can repackage them and sell them to someone else. You my friend, could be a sock entrepreneur!

I can tell you why, because people like to touch/feel/see the socks before they buy them. Some people like to gauge just how big 'for foot size 6-14' really means for that particular manuf. Others just like to see if these socks are somehow different than every other socks they've ever worn... maybe these use some fancy new materials that make them indestructible.

Now, note, those people aren't afraid to rip a 'sealed' bag to learn this. Now, suddenly, for some reason this sock is not perfect--but wait, maybe it is... Even THEN they will put that bag back that THEY opened and buy a bag that hasn't been opened. And then nobody will buy that open bag, unless maybe, it's the last one--and even then probably not.

So, resealable allows people to screw with the socks bags and the employees can put them back in there and you can live blissfully thinking that you bought them brand new and they don't need a washing before you wear them.

<- Always washes his clothes before wearing them.

Ah Dman, thanks. Remind me to never, ever, ever buy resealable underwear.

At least ours start out in a bags. Women's underwear is out there in the open for anyone to touch. Wonder how many people touched YOUR G/F's panties.... 😀

Heh... 😀

Just so you know dman, the bag was sealed at the top. Once you broke the seal, you could reseal it. Nice try. 😛

Can you still hang it back up once the seal has been broken? or is that part of the plastic now torn off?

I think it's the former, and you can still rehang it. Still same reason, just lets you know someone opened it... not a biggie, I guess it discourages from opening before purchase but if you can't resist, at least it doesn't look destroyed afterwards.

Man, too much talk about socks... time for me to check out. 😀
