I went to York barbell company store yesterday to take a look and ended up getting a 300lb Olympic set. I don't jave a weight bench, so I guess I'll start with curls and such until I buy a bench.

Any suggestions on how to motivate myelf to use it AND how many reps/sets I should do?

for me, results are the only motivation. I need to work out near a mirror so I can see that I am improving, and that motivates me to work out more. Otherwise I'll just not care and get discouraged.

Begin with a tried and trusted 10reps x 3 sets. After 4 weeks move to 8reps x 4 sets. 4-6 weeks drop to 6reps x 5 sets. Stay at that for 6 weeks. Then drop heavier to 3reps x 6sets. After this heavy 3-4 weeks rest up for 7 days then hit some high rep stuff (12reps x 4 sets or 15reps x 3 sets)

Your rep and set scheme should change every 6-8-12 weeks. Don't stay doing the same reps/ sets longer then 3 months!

Just be sure to add some cardio in there too... You can lift weights all day long and not SEE the results because of that spare tire you have.

I'm currently trying to run at least 3 days out of the week and walk for 30 mins to 2 hours per day depending on my schedule. If you have a dog, it's a great excuse to go on extended walks.

Don't neglect your triceps....be sure to do a lot of varied lifts. You can always work your chest with barbells by doing flys and bench press by keeping good form with lower weights. It will still work you out...

Nice! Koing gave some good advice there. If you need any help with supplementation (you might want to take some whey protein) feel free to PM me. :)
