So I bought a large container of dry roasted peanuts

The "may" in the warning is what disturbs me.

What could I get instead? Snake? Money? Flies?

aww why not honey roasted?

Homer: Ah, finally a little quiet time to read some of my old favorites... Honey-roasted peanuts. Ingredients: Salt, artificial honey-roasting agents, pressed peanut sweepings...

Actually, it's a valid statement. Peanuts aren't really nuts, they're legumes. Basically they're more of a pea than a nut. People that are allergic to other nuts aren't necessarily allergic to peanuts, I'm one of them. Peanuts are fine for me but a tree nut will give me a nasty allergic reaction. I would bet they have that warning because the facility that processes the peanuts also processes other nuts. If somebody like me is munching on them and downs a cashew or two that's mixed in with the peanuts it can do them some harm.

I am aware of this.

Its just that I find the label rather odd.

Some cans use the label "warning: this product was processed on a machine that also processes soy and tree nuts."

Why can't they put all the labels together and say "this product may have been produced on a machine that processes peanuts, tree nuts, and soy"? Because every can of nuts I have seen has this label.
