So I bought a Corsair H50

I plan on putting a H50 into my SG03 case later this month when I upgrade the E6750 to a i7 750. Others that have done it put the radiator onto the top front 120mm fan spot and having it blow in as intake. It works pretty good from all I have read about it and not that noisy either. I'll find out for sure when I do it.

I just built a "new" pc with some of my older parts that were laying around. I put an E8600 in this case (it was the cheapest/nicest looking I could find for <$30 - by the way it's a great case for the price):

I'm using the H50 to cool, and the rad just fits in the rear (I have reversed it to exhaust out as well). I can run stable at 4.5GHz (500x9), but I need to bump the voltage to about 1.36V after Vdroop. When running this way, the CPU hits about 84C under 3hr orthos load. I am running it now at 4.32GHz (480x9) with the core at 1.296V after vdroop. Temps never exceed 68C with the H50.

It's a very nice little cooler.

Just a little update,

All testing was done with the case open. I was finally ready to close the case today, and low and behold, it would not close because the side panel 180mm fan was hitting the rad! I had to do some adjustments (move the fan outside of the case, and had to cut and bend two case sections to make it fit right):

But, I guess it was worth it! MB temp dropped 10C! Also, CPU temp dropped 3C:

So, I guess it you have decent case ventilation, you can point the H50 exhaust fan out.

And a 800d case.

I have a 920 at 3.4GHZ and my idle temps are about 39 and my load are high 50's to mid 60's depending on how hot the room is.

Thats pretty good isn't it? I know this cooler has gotten some flak on the forums but I must say thats the lowest my CPU has seen. I don't even have a better fan hooked up or a push pull setup installed, just stock.

How loud is the pump? I have heard some complaints about it making a clicking noise.

I can't hear it at all. My fans make a lot more noise than this thing (Fan that came with H50, some Antec that came with my old case, and a Cooler Master than came with my current case, all 120s).

The pump is nearly silent. It produces a feeble humming that's easily drowned out but the PSU, GPU, etc.

Now if you bang on the pump, hoses or radiator you will hear air bubbles going through the lines. So the system is not topped off 100%. (it cannot be to allow for expansion!)

Great little cooler, picked one up from Fry's for $55. Here is my config:

Coolermaster 690 Case
1 120mm intake in front
1 140mm intake on the side
2 140mm exhaust on the top
2 120mm on the H50 bringing in air from the outside through the radiator and into the case

Results:

I must say well worth the money. I had a Coolermaster N520 twin 92mm cooler before which reached a peak of 92C!!

I want to be at 4GHZ actually but I'm a OC'ing noob.

i7 was the first system I put together, a quick Googling session and I hit 4GHz @ 1.28v Prime95 stable. ^_^ Coincidentally I also had the H50 and it kept my temps at 75C max after hours of Prime95.

After reading this I was wondering if that would be a good cooler for my CPU. I could vent it out since I have a good amount of air flow in the case, or would I need to duct it or vent it some other way?

Sounds like a good little set-up then.

Does anyone know how long the pump will last?
