Mini boat update:
took it out last night to see the fireworks by the navy pier. New starter is the bomb, fires up instantly. Also the hydrofoil I put on the thing make a quite a bit difference.

I can trim the boat up 3/4 up and get it to plane very very nicely, even on lake michigan.

nice!! I'd bug you for a ride if I didn't have a rugrat now

Plan to spend this coming weekend boating as much as possible. Possibly with DaTT.

I think you can replace "possibly" with "definitely". Getting the cruise control module installed on Saturday.....if the Cove hasn't misplaced it.

Ted driving it in in the morning? Might want to remind him that the bow strap goes over the roller and he should bring a chain to secure it down to the trailer.

nice shot, my inlaws live just to the left of the dirigible tower, and you can see the cove from there

Already replaced a power steering hose and pump. Hose was $38, the pump after core return was $31.00. Nice thing about this VP 5.7 liter is that off the shelf chevy parts fit it perfectly as long as its not electric (needing to be marinized), or related to the cooling system.

Sad day, pulled the boat out this past weekend. Got the outboard winterized and will be storing it away for the winter over the weekend. Bah winter.

:(

Been putting off winterization for a couple weeks now. It's planned for Sunday. We have also been on a waiting list at the storage facility for covered storage and finally got a spot. Going from $40/month in a locked secure storage area (outside), to a 36 foot covered spot in the same locked facility @ $110/month. Will be nice to keep snow and rain off the boat and will realize the cost difference when we go to sell it. Wish it was a heated garage but oh well.

Where do you store your boat over the winter?

There are 2 happy days in a boat owners life the day the buys the boat and the day he sells it :)

Buying something trailerable with an outboard (like the OP's) goes a LONG way towards making that statement untrue.

Don't have to pay docking fees while you're not using it, and maintenance and repairs are much easier.
