So I autocrossed against a BRZ on Saturday...

sat in one at the local autoX and was surprised to find that the passenger and drivers head space had a bump in it to help clear helmets was surprised im 6ft with quite a long torso and had plenty of headspace id fit with a helmet and space to spare.

Awesome to hear. I'm about 5'11 but also have a long torso.

I am 6' 5". If I could fit in a Miata I would've bought one years ago. I sat in a BRZ a week ago and was comfortable. Visibility seemed acceptable even, but I'll know more when I drive it.

How much headroom did you have left before hitting the roof?

I sat in an FRS a few days ago, and at 6'4" (32" inseam) I had about an inch of headroom in a comfortable seating position. I'll have to buy lowering brackets for the seat if I want to wear a helmet. The back of my seat was also touching the front of the seat behind me, therefore, max of three people for me.

So its pretty much designed for midgets. Thanks C

aftermarket will fix any fit issues big and tall have. Designers have to make allowances somewhere. In this case they had to compromise comfort for a really small portion of the population. You dont see manlets complaining because they have to wear blocks on their feet to reach the pedals.

When you consider that at 6'4", I'm well into the 95th percentile for height, being able to sit in a car of this size without touching the roof says quite the opposite. I won't know more until I can get a test drive, but it was quite comfortable as well.

If this car was a 2-seater, as most of its competition is (MR2-S, MX-5, S2000) no one would be complaining about the "lack of room in the rear seats."

How do S2000's do at your auto-x

The good S2000 drivers consistently beat all stock Miatas. If someone brings an S2000 on slicks, then they usually either set FTD or get close. The heavily modded NC Miatas are toward the top, usually besting the S2000's with equal tires. Some kind of ringer car (modded Lotus Elise, purpose built cars, kart-like cars) usually gets FTD.

I imagine trd is already developing either a supercharger or a turbo that can be added at the dealer and keeps the warranty intact.

edit:

yup, found this with a little googling

http://toyobaru.net/forums/f9/scion-fr-s-trd-supercharger-add-confirmed-development-917/

From that thread
So I heard some time ago through my source that the first test blew the motor. The other day ej25ti mentioned Greddy has blown about 6 motors trying various forced induction setups. Things aren't looking good for the aftermarket and Scion has dropped development of the supercharger and left it to aftermarket. Looks like the best option we have is factory turbo/sc option.

Could be BS I suppose...who knows?
