off topic ... i dont know if i should be happy or worried that out of the 107 students in the country who got a 2400 on the first new SAT, 4 of them are in my schools junior class ... whether that gives students from my school an extra boost or if it puts more pressure on us ...

btw, im a sophomore

It doesn't hurt you if you are getting good grades. If you have good grades then even if your scores are lower (from what I've read and heard about you I doubt you will score poorly), then you are demonstrating that in the classroom you are on par with higher scoring kids. I'm guessing you go to one of those uber crazy california schools where half the kids go to UCLA, Cal, Stanford.

yeah, it's a crazy high school (for a public high school)

Majority of the students go to USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, and UCSD

A couple go to Cal-Tech, Harvard, or MIT

where are you shooting for?

Consider yourself plausible at any University in the country if you can maintain these grades, score well on AP's, and participate/lead activities outside the classroom.

Wow, though I don't want to get my hopes up, I feel a bit more confident. Thanks :)

My extracirriculars are:
Fencing Team (it's not a school team since they are not funding it, but the club is associated with the school)
Debate
Vice-President Amnesty Club
Robotics Club
Hospital volunteering (90 hours so far)

I ran for my class cabinet VP but lost :( ... though I am going to run for ASB president next year

Now to go study for my AP and SAT II Biology exams!

CalTech is too close to home ... I could literally walk there :p

In fact, I have ... < 2 miles

Plus, they're probably only going to take one person from my class and since one guy in my class has amazing grades and is a varsity swimmer/water polo player at Sophomore year AND has a father who teaches Physics there, he's going to get in ...

though I am going to see if I can use my fathers connections to get a high school internship at JPL

how are you compared to the other studnets in your class?

top student? top 5%? top 10%? how big is your class?

RESURRECT!!

I am currently ranked 200/625 (somewhere around there). My schools normal classes all jack up their grades (no effort gets a B).

An ex-boyfriend worked at JPL during college and got to do some sophisticated work :) CalTech is still the BEST, who cares if your parents can spy on you :p
